Can it be done?

Before I became a knife loony, or afficionado (as you may prefer), about 20 years ago, I took my $25 Christmas bonus and spent it on a Sears knife made by Buck. It was a small version of the 110. I carried that thing for years and used it hard. Great little traditional folder it was. I lost the little mofo though.

I carried a Benchmade Stryker for a little over 2 years, that was my record. Nowadays a knife is lucky if it lasts 2 months in my pocket- I just keep getting new ones. Though I think I may carry my Paramilitary for a good long while, it has turned out to be perfect for my needs. I'm focusing on fixed blades (Busse) for now.

I've had 3 mini-AFCKs that I have carried for years on end, occasionally interrupted by some other knife. Now it's a mini-SOCCOM elite for the past year. It's the office knives that I keep changing, where style is more of an issue than performance. There's too many nice ones not to play the field!

I carried a Boker Titan with 440C blade for about 9 years. I recently replaced it, but haven't forgotten it.

P.S. I tried a small classic Sebenza, a titanium Leek, and have settled on a William Henry B7-FT as the replacement.

I carried a large SAK for over twenty years - finally succumbing to the embarassment of it's dull main blade. I sent it back home for some new scales once - they sharpened it! Lots of replacement toothpicks and another tweezer, too. I just never could master sharpening it. I got a smaller model - a Super Tinker - and carried it for years until I safely stowed it away somewhere in this house. I added a Buck 301 fifteen years back... great whittler... and a 110. They stayed sharp a long time, but my 'dull knife drawer' started getting fuller by the time I discovered the Kershaw Scallion, Blur, & Leek. I've carried a Blur in my back pocket for years now - and that drawer gained a few more additions.

Finally, I 'discovered' a sharpener I could use - the Spydie 'Sharpmaker' - my SAK's and Kershaws are shaving sharp again - that butter knife drawer is losing occupants. Oddly, nowadays finds me with the 'knife-de-jour' in my pocket... often a 110. I did buy a new Vic Super Tinker - it's still in the box. Bet I find it's older brother now...

i've carried the chinook II in my right pocket since they were first available, and while many other knives have found a place on the left, the chinook is staying put.

Can a man or a woman choose a folding knife and keep that same knife in their pocket for over two years? That is the question! Who has done it and name that knife.

First, it has a generic, no-name copy of a Swiss Army Knife and now it's a Victorinox "Tinker" Swiss Army Knife. Probably had a Benchmade brand 551 Griptillian in my right-front pocket for at least a year, but that was years ago. So the constant companion is a Vic Tinker and then knifeoftheday honors are usually taken by Kershaw, Spyderco, or Swamp Rat (HR or muddy HRLM).

i've carried a kershaw model2000 since early 1980's every day.put it away apx 2 years ago but there are times i pull it out and use it again.

I've carried a Victorinox Classic for years. Of course, I replaced it about once every two years as they don't hold up that well to a lot of torque but for $12 or so . . .

I've been carrying a small Sebenza for almost two years now and plan to continue carrying it for at least another decade or more.

From the age of twelve to about 23 I carried a Victorinox Huntsman. I still have it, but I mostly carry a multitool now (Vic Spirit).

I carried a Wenger SAK for a few years before retiring that particular model. I stopped carrying it as it has sentimental value to me and I feared losing it.

Back in the 70's I carried a Buck 110 for several years. I learned to do the "Biker Drop" before I had even heard about opening knives with one hand.

My First Spyderco was an Endura and I carried it for about three years.

I replaced the Endura with a Spyderco Military which I carried for almost four years.

CRKT kasper small version

YES. When I was a kif my first knife was an Old Timer slipjoint, carried it more or less every day for maybe 3 years. Later I got a SAK, it was actually a rip-off/look alike but I didn't know that then, carried that a couple years. First knife I bought myself was a SAK, dunno the model but it had a saw, was not too big, I carried that all theough JR high and high school. My first lockback was a Schrade I think, a look-alike to the Buck 110, carried that on a belt pouch for 2-3 years. Went knifeless for a while, when I started to carry again it was a CS medium Voyager, have gotten LOADS of use out of that for 3-4 years so far and it's still going strong. Am starting to vary with a couple Spydies (Endura and Delica) and recently got some Kershaws so I will probably be rotating a bit from here. But the Voyager is so light it's easy to carry.

Pretty much all through college I carried a BM mini-stryker. Great knife. I still have it and use it mainly as a beater. At least three years of EDC and many more in rotation.

I bought a Böker Stubby in '96 and have been carrying it around with me since then. A couple years ago the thumbstud unscrewed and got lost, I forgot about the knife and used a cheap Irish Stag knife. Then I stumbled upon a very small cheap copy of the Böker and, yes, the thumbstud fitted perfectly on my old one.........And again it became my trusty little knife for everyday use! Probably will be the only knife that I ALWAYS have with me. For the sceptics, the Böker Stubby isn't big, expensive and is made out of 420! However it is a very reliable little knife and does everything I need it for.
I probably own about twenty knives of all sorts, but it's funny how you can get attached to the smallest and, truthfully ,most average knife you own. Builds up a nostalgic connection with it, I guess!:)
