Oh God... please make the pain stop.
Y'know... I've known Mick for quite a while. At first, it was strictly online (first here, then the USN). Then, I actually met him and Duane at Blade, and Vegas. Since then, I've gotten to know him even better, and he is what I would classify as a stand-up, honest individual, who would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you might need it.
I would trust Mick with my kids. I DO trust Mick with my well being, as I own and carry a Strider. I also trust him with the well-being of my friends who own his knives.
I only very recently found out that ::gasp:: he had a record! And, gee! His name was once something different! Holy crap! I guess that means he's a completely different guy than the one I got to know!
Negative.
First of all, it's not my business what skeletons he may or may not have in his closet. God knows I've got plenty, he doesn't need to know about them. Neither do any of you. Life's like that. Someone took it upon themselves to drag those skeletons out. Why? Petty jealousy over government contracts.
The point I'm trying to make it this: I knew Mick before his past was dresged up for the world to see. Knowing what I now do, my opinion of him hasn't changed... check that. It HAS changed. For the better. Can you honestly say you know someone who made a mistake, paid for it, got back into the world with the rest of us, and started CONTRIBUTING to it?
I can. I'm proud I know him, and that I can call him my friend.
