Canal Street Knife details

I certainly agree to that idea. Convincing Gus may present a problem.
We could just hold his goats as hostages...........

:D

I'll agree Gus shouldn't have to take any kind of loss at all. I also think if anyone should get a knife paid for by us it should be Gus or me. :) Anyways :) I'll send my money when ever Gus askes for it and how ever he wants it. Gus I'd like to say thank you for all the work you did for this project.

If he refuses some kind of compensation, we should just ignore him. I never pay him much attention anyway:D . If we have to resort to mutiny, so be it.

Guys,

I wanted to do this for all of us and I will have fun doing it.

Let's just get this done the way we started out and I will be happy and glad we got together and did this.

Any "loss" will be from rounding, phone calls and the possibility of someone backing out from the committment made in this thread. (I can handle 1 and 2 without a problem, but I am not going to order a knife for someone unless they have sent a payment to me at the time Canal will end up needing it.)

I actually thought there might be around 10% not buying the knife, that would be around 3 knives. It makes sense for you to get the money BEFORE you get the knives. I would also think that in spite of this, there might be one or maybe even two that fall through, i.e. lack of funds for the check or whatever. I would think some of us here would offer to buy another knife if that happens. I think what you are doing here is great and I know it is a lot of work. I know we all really appriciate it.

I absolutely agree with including a handling fee. You always take a small hit when you only charge the hard costs of shipping. The USPS provides the box, but you have to use tape to seal it up, plus there might be packing peanuts or bubble wrap involved, although newspaper works just as well. Gus is going to have to go to the post office to send these, so there's gas, a possible parking meter, etc. A small charge for handling is absolutely justified.

And from a purely practical standpoint, this would set a good precedent, and probably make it easier to find a volunteer to head this up in 2007.

Guys,

I offered to do this. That is the way it is going to go down.

I would rather see us use peer pressure to make sure everyone who has signed up is serious about making their payment within a few days after I send word out.

I do not mean to sound unappreciative, I really am. I will take much joy in helping to add these pups to each of your collections or pockets whichever the case may be. (Those that know me, understand that.)

Gus

Pete,

You and the gang are more than welcome.

B.T.W. are you anywhere near Atlanta (= bastidville :)).

This may work out great, if I decide to abscond with this "fortune" you can send Pete after me :D.

I think 90% of people in Georiga live near Atlanta. I live in Cobb County in a little town called Acworth about 25 miles north Atlanta. If you need me to do something in Atlanta, no problem. I would be glad to pick up my knife and / or help you pack. I don't know about going after you (if) you absound this fortune though. :)

I'm not that far away. Near Perimeter mall, just inside 285 in un-incorporated Dekalb.

Nice to meet another Atlanta knife nut. Calvin lives about a mile and a half from me. :).

His real name is Steve Fruend of Tomway fame.

Where the heck has this thread been hiding? You Bastid! Trying to scr*w me out of ANOTHER knife, you goat-herding funzanoon? ;) ;) ;) (easy folks, private joke :D )

If it's not too late, Gus - please put me down for one. What a wonderful idea.

Got ya covered Holger :D

Yup, I can't sell a snowball to the devil for a profit, but I am golden at cost.:)

I don't think that Holger oughtta get one. The reason that he didin't notice this was cause he was too busy watching the custom for sale thread. so he could snatch up all the custom slipjoints.

:D :D :D
