Cancelling membership with Knives Emporium

wow what a thread, besides the 10+- post prerequisite... am i really the only active veteran bladeforums member who won? lol, my first big win from a gaw too. i may have been the last person to receive a knife as i believe the hinderer xm18 christmas giveaway was next. i still have the tuff as well as a unboxing video which i never posted cause my home address was visible. for what its worth, heres the thread along with photos of the tuff that shows there was a time where his intentions were of good nature... even if im the only proof :p.

im in no way defending the guy... per the evidence, hes totally busted. smh

In the interest of having the facts memorialized here, I posted that I won what I believe to be the first giveaway from Knives Emporium, and the knife was indeed delivered as promised.

I do not know the company or any of it's employees.

I posted THIS THREAD when I received the knife in August of 2012.

As I said before, it is sad to see this happen.

best

glad to see i wasnt the only one...
seriously lets just move this into the hall of shame disband most of the mob and move on with our lives.
i dont think theres anything he can do for redemption.. is anybody really looking for an explanation at this point?

its a shame, but its still a mans livelihood nonetheless and hes sure as hell paying for whats happened

Yes, I would like an explanation. I doubt we'll get one though.
It's always better for a man to come clean.

So put me down for one(1) explanation please...

No, it will stay here for quite some time. We are not a mob.

I know you two won knives from him(but nothing like a $750 Hinderer), but this will go on for awhile so we can let people know about what he did.
This is not about redemption only, its also about letting the knife community know what happend. We're a tight knit group, and we owe our friends that much.

I can't think of a lower act done by a dealer since I've been here.
If you don't want to read about it I would just quit coming to this thread. No disrespect intended.

edit- He ran this giveaway for 4 1/2 months just to get people to sign up at his site, and he knew he would never give the Hinderer away. If he can play us for 4 1/2 months we can keep this thread running that long. Seems fair enough.

lol dont take what i said out of context, nor am i being biased cause i received a knife... im just saying what can he possibly say? i think the evidence is more than damning at this point lol.
as far as letting the community know what happened, i agree, which is why i suggested it be stickied in the hall of shame. it also doesnt say much about our tight nit group/community when we continue to beat a dead horse and sling sht into a fan thats already completely covered in shat...

poor guy doesnt even have a militia to defend him ;) <~~ joke, for those who've been here long enough to get it.

So after 4 1/2 months of his playing us you think this two day old thread is beating a dead horse. I don't think so.

The thread isn't going anywhere.

hell until yesterday or the day before i had no idea that bs was going on lol. it doesnt have to go anywhere, it was merely a suggestion as i assumed thats where the serious **** ups end up going.

I didn't know he was playing us until a couple of days ago either. I never entered it.
And if this thread went away many wouldn't know about it. Many don't come to this room everyday, or every week even.

It won't go in the Hall of Shame because he took no money from anyone. And even if it did its not time for that yet as many wouldn't see it there.

Gentlemen,
It will go wherever staff puts it. You need not concern yourself with that matter. Take your arguments elsewhere.

It is beyond obvious that KE is guilty, the evidence was presented, the jury is out and he is guilty.

I have been hanging around and peeking at this thread from time to time hoping to see a sincere, heartfelt apology with admission of guilt and maybe an explaination of why he acted out of character (for example business was slow the past few weeks and it would of broke him to go through with the giveaway).

I went on the KE website and looked at what appeared to be a good apology. I sat down to read it ready to forgive his actions if the apology was heartfelt.

After reading it, I felt the exact opposite. I will not be forgiving KE after all.

What started out as an apology shortly turned into a sugar coated denile of guilt once again. This quote from the "apology" is actually what sealed KE's fate in my mind.

Some of you do indeed believe that this mistake was made intentionally and for that we are truly sorry.

Yeah, he's sorry for the way we felt about it, not for what he did.

Well said. We are, indeed, a closely nit community and he essentially scammed us. If he were any other member of this community he would be banned and forever posted in the hall of shame. I was ready to forgive KE as long as I heard a sincere apology but the one he posted was far from an apology. Rather than blame himself he blamed the community which is what I thought was the most offensive.

And he would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for you meddling kids!!

Just thought that was appropriate for those of us old enough to remember it. :)

I thought about this all last night. To those that won past giveaways good for you. I hope you were legit, and I'm not questioning you. However, it's been very apparent these giveaways were purely for business purposes, and not for the knife community.

1. This forum has a close knit community. I love this place. Sure knives are part of it, but people caring about others is so evident. What pissed me off the most about KE was they don't get it. Those that have a normal giveaway are doing it out of their heart for others.

2. I read a comment from a new member saying they love free knives! They encouraged KE to keep it up. Why? This forum is not about free knives.

3. Alot of what you see as a reaction shows that we are a passionate group that we are. The forum has given so much, that when someone threatens what we have you're going to have a kick back.

4. I'm really glad some of you are much more technologically educated than myself. I learned a lot and still don't understand everything you all were discovering, but I'm glad you did the work to expose this cheat.

I read their response, and still I'm convinced they don't get it, and never will. Because of this I'll continue to warn others to stay away from them.

After all has been said and done, we, at Knives Emporium apologize for all the mistrust that this incident has caused. Some of you do indeed believe that this mistake was made intentionally and for that we are truly sorry.

The boldened part of this kinda really sticks in my craw. You really can't get any more intentional than to award a prize to yourself while you are also online announcing the winners of the giveaway. Then to try to cover it up with blaming bladeforums and their own customers, sites editing, fake apologies and vague "explanations" after promising a detailed explanation of their actions is just icing on the cake.
Someone must think everyone around them are all rubes.

A business acting for business purposes is a shocking surprise?. 0___0

What is shocking is the scam of pretending to give something away.

Mine too. He hasn't changed it again, so I guess he is going to stick with that one.

I would rather he put nothing up than put up what he did. He's not one bit sorry about what he did, he's just sorry about what we believe.

How do you - Mistakenly win your own give away? Oops...I won. Thanks everybody!

And he wants us to believe the mistake wasn't intentional, yet he did nothing to correct his mistake.

I guess he's going to stick with the employee won it story. If that was really the case he could have simply told his employee they couldn't win. He also could have told us in the thread an employee won it instead of waiting a day or two to come up with that story.

I would suggest folks stop going to the KE site altogether. The more unique hits they get can actually increase their ranking with search engines. Kind of the "There is no such thing as bad publicity" principle.

Clicking on this thread, however can also increase the thread's rating. BF already has a significant footprint on the web so someone searching for KE or knives in general will come across this.
