"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Will Power Will Power - Will I agree with Mark on this. I just received (for the second time) an expensive wooden chest (to keep knives in) that represents the culmination of FOUR months of dealing with an idiot retailer. The only reason I ever motivated this guy to do anything that approaches professional behavior was three letters to the New Jersey Better Business Bureau. After lighting a fire under his posterior I then had to further tolerate his sophomoric attitude right to the end.
As Mark said, you are only out the amount you had already settled in your mind to pay. Avoiding further irritation has a value also.

Smooth! I have gotten used to the natural kind that you have to stir because it doesn't have hydrogenated oils.
Is that peanut butter the same color as most others or is it much darker? And is it considerably stronger in taste?

Yes, and tripe, tendon, all manner of organ meat regardless of animal, insects, etc. Many will vehemently state they don't like something without ever even tryng it.
I understand what you mean and agree, you are right.
Most people regard animals that are kept as pets differently and that is a different conversation.

Maybe a tiny bit darker, depending on the brand. It tastes much more like peanuts, since it doesn't have shortening, sugar, and salt in it. If you want, you can stir a little honey and salt in it, and it's still better for you than the ones with trans fat or palm oil.

I vote smooth over chunky. Despite what’s been said about hipster peanut butter I found that Cherry Republic which was founded in Glen Arbor Michigan to have a very delicious cherry and white chocolate flavored peanut butter I also love peanut butter pretzels and my family used to make grilled peanut butter sandwiches.

Will, I would just hammer him big time in the feedback of your transaction, and make a note of the seller's name so you never use him again. The bad feedback should hurt him more than refunding half your shipping fee.

Chocolate I'm not sure about, might be too sweet... but I'll be on the look out for Cherry.
I'd forgotten about grilled peanut butter sandwiches, they're great! Thanks for the tip and the reminder. -James

I'm sorry guys, but I don't even like mayonnaise on normal things. The thought of it on peanut butter: Yuck!
Amen!
Smooth! But I have gotten used to the natural kind that you have to stir because it doesn't have hydrogenated oils. It isn't quite as smooth as the fake stuff.
Laura Scudder! Got the Smooth in the ice box now--wife prefers it. I prefer Crunchy or Chunky but love both. Peanuts and salt. All you need.

Yep, I've got some Laura Scudder in the pantry right now. I don't refrigerate it, though. Room temp is easier to spread and I've never had it go bad. I guess I go through it too fast.

Setting aside the food chat for a moment.
I need advice please.

Never had any probs on the Bay or P.Pal until now and actually don't know what to do, need your input.

Bought a camera from Britain to here Finland. Delivery charge pretty steep, 21 Euro or so about 20 GBP. But courier service etc, tracking etc. Goods intercepted in Wolverhampton as possibly 'dangerous' Then gets moving again. They did not deliver it to my house, nor did they try contacting me-text,e-mail. They simply sent it to the P.O. who sent me a letter telling me I can pick it up. Collect it, SHOCKED to see it's unwrapped Canon box with a delivery label glued on, no wrapping, all open. By a miracle it appeared undamaged and not stolen.

Complain to seller. He claims he wrapped it up and only charged me 4 Euro delivery....invoice shows otherwise. He claims it's the courier not him etc but I still paid him the delivery sum. I ask him to refund half, he takes a while, says OK I'll refund half the shipping cost. Delay, then he claims he can't send me a refund via P.pal as he doesn't know my PP add (he has the Invoice it's on it) Then he sys he can't send money as it only goes in GBP this is crap too as you can send any currency in the world and it's converted or send the customer's currency as we all know. Then he asks via Ebay email for my bank acct No. so he can transfer he money! No way, illegal and insecure. This all annoys me. Never EVER had problems before.

How do I make a claim? Bay just seems fixated on non delivery etc, I got the thing but I'm dissatisfied with the buyer, how to proceed?

Thanks for reading,
Will

2 things - first, file a complaint with ebay and paypal citing the attempt to get around their fee structure and phish your banking info. include a screenshot of the email where he's asking for your bank info "because PP won't send in any currency but GBP"
second, leave adverse feedback - cite the poor packaging, excessive shipping, and attempt to phish your banking info.

Will,
It seems you were originally ok with the high shipping fee when you agreed to it and paid for it and you did receive your camera in good shape, eventually. No need being upset now and wasting all this energy. LET IT GO, never think of that man again, enjoy your new camera! Now, get out and take some pics!!:):thumbsup:
Good call on the bank acct and another reason to limit your exposure to this guy.

Well you and the others are correct, I better just let it go. However, I paid a high shipping fee (no alternative) with the expectation that I would receive it delivered, signed for and wrapped. The box was unwrapped original Canon box, no protection, no wrapping and I had to collect it! He's getting stinking feedback though ;):D:poop: Thanks everybody:thumbsup:

The only peanut butter I will now buy is from Walmart. Labeled as "Great Value No Stir Creamy Natural Peanut Butter Spread". Ingredients are peanuts, sugar, palm oil, salt. Best of any I've tried in 57 years of life.

Enough of this ! The big question. The question that needs answering once and for all...is...
Crunchy or Smoothy?
Crunchy for my wife, smooth for me. (Despite this irreconcilable difference, we've been married for over 33 years.)

I'm the adopt-a-highway lead for my chapter of the Isaak Walton League of America. We have our 6th scheduled pickup of rubbish for the year this morning. Four miles of road shoulder through the Wilderness Battlefield. Car is loaded with signs, bags, safety vests, and pickup sticks. I'll leave home at 700AM to head to the club. Having a very hard time getting motivated to do this today. Supposed to rain. Almost wish it would, but we really need to get this done. Have only today and probably one other chance for the rest of the year. uuuuuggggggghhhhhhhh
:thumbsup::thumbsup: That's a fantastic public service program!

...
For an out there snack ..fetta cheese and strawberry jam/jelly/conserve/spreadable fruit.....I know sounds horrible but tastes good.
Doesn't sound so bad to me. I LOVE grape jelly and cheese sandwiches. (Have to confess that I first had them with Velveeta pasteurized prepared cheese product, or whatever it's now called, and even though that's not real cheese, that combo is still probably my favorite version.)

What many in Western Europe and the USA consider taboo in food are actually delicacies. Don't slam a food until you've actually tried it yourself.

L leghog brother you know you're a good buddy and one of my favorite people here but you have been in one to many survival situations.:confused::D:D

Peanut butter is pretty good spread on a waffle with maple syrup.

One of my favorite things that I can't have often is a PB and strawberry jam between two toasted Eggo Homestyle Waffles sandwich.

Man yesterday must have been some kinda record for the amount of post in a day in the Lounge or at leastt it seemed like it to me.
