"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Some back yard visitors, a Red Fox and some Turkeys. The Fox wandered off without bothering them. Sorry for the crappy phone pic. I ran and grabbed my camera but it was too late.

The reason Lodge does not make the enameled ones here has to do with the manufacturing process & the chemicals used & by-products produced.
The EPA regs put a halt to it so there are no plants in the US making them.
Bite the bullet & buy the French made one, it"s a lifetime investment you won't be sorry.
Nope. I'll just buy a plain cast iron one. I don't have enough lifetime left to worry about a pot being a lifetime investment.

Guarantee you a cast iron Dutch oven will last you a lifetime anyway. The Lodge cast iron skillet I use all of the time is in its second lifetime (inherited from my wife's mother) and will outlast us too.

the Tramontina brand they sell at Sam's & Wally isn't badly priced and IIRC, is made in S. Am.

I know. I've used them. Gave one away about 30 years ago.

I don't use a clock to wake up. I get up at 0400 every day of the week without a clock. Have for a couple of decades. Up at just after 0300 this morning. Will take me a couple of days to reset.

leghog I still got up at 5:30 AM for a couple of years after I retired but now that it's been 7 years and living by myself I sometimes stay up late and sleep in the next morning. This morning the only reason I got up at 7:00 AM was the time change. :D:D

I thought my brother was late, but no- the clocks were supposed to go back last night, not tonight.

Boy, Italy's taking a meteorological pasting. I hope all our Italian members are safe and well.

My daughter asked me for cat and bunny sitting while she's on holidays on the South to see her brother. An opportunity to run the bike in.

There are three cats, Doudou she found 12 years ago in winter while riding across a forrest, the former owner had dropped him from the car and since he is three-legged . Now he has a normal life and is a nice character.

Moustique came when my daughter moved to her new house, he found the soup is good enough to stay.

Flocon is much younger and has another house but prefers to live with his fellows.

And last but not least, Princesse, an ex-attack bunny, now retired ;). She is lovely and can be more curious than the three cats together.

But, believe that, no café! You have to drive 5km to have a beer.
I love running through the little villages, sometime you're transported to another century.
Dyane 6, probably a one-owner-low-mileage exemple.

Ex military 1-toner, takes me back to the 50s. The Galion in the yard is much newer, from the 80s ;)

When I left this morning it was cold (1°C - 34°F) and very foggy but I wanted to reach home before the usual end-of-holiday sunday afternoon jam. There were many hunting sprees, hunting for wild hog and deer. I was very lucky that the young hog (but already a big guy) who rushed straight across the road was not less than about 25m away in front of my wheel.
