They probably won't be able to give this away at my estate sale.

I got it for $3, so I'm not complaining.

I have to keep myself from complaining about all the smoke in the air. I have asthma and I've been having troubles with it the last few days, nothing serious but still annoying. There have also been many school related events that were postponed or cancelled because of the air quality. But yet, I can't complain because I have to remember all those that lost their lives, or their homes, etc. My little problems are nothing in comparison. Thoughts and prayers to all those in need of them.

This time of year, every Sunday is Souper Sunday at my house. It’s my turn to cook and I’m getting a head start. I just roasted some beef bones and now have them in the pressure cooker with water waiting to become stock. Tomorrow it’ll become French onion soup.

After many years of our fall/winter Souper Sunday tradition, I think we could use some new soups to try. After the enjoyable chili discussion here a few weeks ago, I thought I might be able to get some good ideas here.

So, what’s your favorite soup? Mine is caldo verde.

It's almost cold enough for lentil soup:
Saute onions in olive oil, add chicken stock, lentils, garlic, cumin, turmeric. Maybe carrots or parsnips, too. Put it in the slow cooker and let it go all afternoon. You can make it vegetarian with vegetable stock, or add meat.
