"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

As you said the worst is the wait. Next year that will just be another bad souvenir gone. Thinking to you and wishing you all the best. :)

- very sorry to read, Jeff black mamba black mamba ......this growing old lark is no fun is it!

Beginning to feel what I guess is a touch of arthritis in the fingers, gets worse after a while clutch-pumping on the Harley. The knees are pretty shot after too much rough n tumble and various sports in earlier life......

....but hey, we all still smile :)

Prayers and will be thinking of you, you'll be rushing around again in no time

Great expectations Jeff - now you have that to carry too :( So get on with it - speedy recovery. :D
Be strong and well.

All the best.

Ray, aka, another creaky and arthritic old dude - with a good attitude.

All the best with your surgery Jeff!! I hope it gives you comfort and ease!!!
Your BIL too, Gary!!

Well Porch Pals, my life of athletics and physical labor has finally caught up with me. After several weeks of terrible neck and shoulder pain I went and had MRIs done, and I have spinal stenosis and disc protrusion from C3 through C7. Lots of neurological symptoms forced my hand, and I'm going in for spinal fusion neck surgery on August 16th. The weeks of forced inactivity prior to the surgery might be worse than the cutting itself. I'm bored stiff. Prayers are appreciated!
Sorry to hear this Jeff! I will pray for your swift recovery and safety.
Say, you mentioned once you might like to see a pic of my old Western hunting knife. I have figured out how to email a photo, so if you PM me your email, I can send you a pic or 2. If you would rather not, no big whoop, but I did remember you asking me that once and feeling bad that I couldn't accommodate the request. :(

Jeff, best wishes buddy, at 63 and doing physical work my whole life I can attest to how it can break down the body, Just had knee surgery yesterday and sat around for a month before the surgery, gets boring fast. Best wishes and prayers buddy, hope it will relieve your pain, the doctors today are some of the best ever.

Jeff, I just saw this post. I am truly sorry for your difficulty my friend. I am praying that the procedure you've scheduled is a complete success and that you are living pain free soon after the 16th. God bless you and your family.

Wow- Jeff...I am sorry to hear that my friend- they have the Spinal Fusing down to an art these days, so that I am happy for you my friend, the inactivity will be the one like you say to get ya!
My friend, I hope that everything goes so so well for you, I am going in for my pre op this coming Wednesday so know how you feel my friend.

Thank you, Duncan, and that's terrific news about ED's wife! My prayers will be with you on Wednesday.

Sorry to hear about your neck Jeff I had a similar surgery and they went through the front instead of the back but the recuperation wasn't really that bad. I did have to go to physical therapy for a few weeks nothing really bad though. I'll certainly lift you up in my prayers and thoughts my friend and hope all goes well and you have a speedy and complete recovery.

Also I've been working on a recording project with some friends that has kept me away for awhile but it's almost finished just mix down and mastering left and I should be able to get that finished in a day or two this week. It's been a lot of fun I wrote this first song and played all the parts except the drums and vocals I left that to a couple of friends that actually know what they're doing.
I have went way over budget on recording gear so I really need to sell about $1000 worth of knives before I get the credit card bill for the the last stuff I bought.
I once heard this very truthful saying "The only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys" and the price of my toys lately says a lot about the fact I've become a man.:eek::D It is good to be back and posting I hope everyone has a great week.

Jeff, wishing you the best and an easy recovery. I bet the MRIs will have been worse than the surgery by a long shot. Rah!
