"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

That water looks so inviting...I grew up on the ocean and living so far inland now I sometimes get to missing the ocean.

Fausto,

Everytime you post pictures I think, "Wow! I would love to be there!" Then I realize it's a ways away and my lawn needs mowed anyway. Still, a man can dream. Thanks!

Dan,
I will lend you the mask, snorkel and fins. Just make the transporter device work :D
Glad you guys like this part of my homeland. Also, since I don't have as many beautiful knives as many of you guys do, I sometimes feel like contributing in a "non-knife" way, so that it's not always my turn to drool
Tomorrow could be this one (not my pics, but I will bring the camera and see if I can get some good ones myself)

Some of you into all things folksy, might enjoy the Alan Lomax Archive channel on YouTube. Loads of great real-deal blues and other forms of roots and folk music.

About Alan Lomax Archive
The filmwork of Alan Lomax is a resource for students, researchers, filmmakers, and fans of America's traditional music and folkways. Shot throughout the American South and Southwest over the course of seven years (1978-1985) in preparation for a PBS series, "American Patchwork," which aired in 1991, these videos consist of performances, interviews, and folkloric scenes culled from 400 hours of footage.

About 10 days back I lost my little Case Peanut and haven't been able to find he little bugger. The peanut had just started to take on a nice little patina too. Since the peanut was my only traditional its kinda been hard to put any of my modern folders into my pocket. It ended up that I only threw one in my pocket Saturday when I went to work for my uncle at a Flea market. With my work being extremely anti-knife the peanut was nice to carry because no one knew that I had it and could get away with using it for small things like cutting up my lunch without it being a hassle to hide it from everyone. I have yet to figure out what I am going to do about a replacement. Being a college student it isn't exactly like I have disposable income to be buying different traditionals so it will be interesting to see what I end up deciding to do.

Don't feel bad.
I just lost my beautiful lil 65'-69' Case Stockman. It makes me queesy thinking about it...

I`ve lost my Peanut as well a couple of weeks ago. Feels really bad man. I got another one the same day, but it doesn`t feel the same. My advice would be is to save up, and get another one, preferable one with the same handle material.

Man i wish there was a company that made the Congress pattern with the blades of the Case, the F&F and steel of the GEC and the Pearl handles of a Fight`n`Rooster. Preferably made in Germany. Been looking at Congress` knives all week, and can`t find the one I want.

Its not that I can't afford it, its just aggravating knowing I had one and lost it :P The whole buy once, cry once theory doesn't work when you lose it lol.

This heat is horrible, I work in a shop that has zero air flow and my hours are 6pm to 6am and you would think working at night it'd cool down? nope...was just over 90 in the shop when I left but 77 outside lol I'm looking forward to winter.

Not carbon but Queen Cutlery's 66 Muskrat is single spring D2. The one I have is incredibly well-made, so issues at all and fine grippy ACSB scales, believe it comes in Zebrawood too. Thin blades that actually arrived sharp from the factory.

Regards, Will

A Muskrat with one backspring, carbon steel, bone handles up to 4". US or German made. Any recoomendations?

Have you already tried to contact Carl Schlieper?

I don´t know if their Muskrats are made with one backspring, but you could ask them via Email.

Kind regards
Andi
