"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

lol when Life hits roughspots you and Murphys curve balls hit you, you just need to take it like champ and limp to get comfort somewhere... lol I have had some roughtime lately but I am sure things will improve soon, even I was meant to pay the BF 2012 knife next week, that money now goes to food and bills unfortunately... I can set a side bit and hopefully get enough money stored in 6 weeks to get one and hope not all have gone... Still when life gives you lemons, make lemonades out of them... or try to trade them to apples :D

Landed at 11:00 am, I'd forgot how much I love this place. Pam trees, laid back atmosphere, definite air of someplace different. Will take pics, hopefully remember how to post them.

Carl.

Have fun man. Tell us how you like the peanut you get down there ;). Supposedly there is a big box store up the Keys, just like the one in Hanover MD ;). Where I got my 2nd peanut on Tuesday...

I thought you guys might like this. My brother sent me a few pics he's filtering through from the recent races in Miami. Its a tiny emailed photo so I hope it shows up okay.

Oh, yeah. I'd love to be on board one of those for a few minutes.

Okay folks, I've decided to give the Case Peanut another chance. Could anyone tell me if the cv ones have a more finger friendly snap on the secondary blades?

Perfect, just as I suspected. I'll keep an eye out for a CV model for certain, thank you.

YMMV, but it was definitely more noticeable when I looked at the SS Peanut.

Just going to be me and the pups this weekend, plan on getting a lot of yard work done in the nice weather Saturday and Sunday (gotta watch for land mines when cutting the acre backyard with a push mower, three Labradors tend to consume a lot of food). Might go see the new Batman movie. Getting ready for vacation next week too. When the hell did it get so hectic to pack for vacation? I'm going to be staying near my family that have a washer and dryer in their beach house apt (literally down a flight of steps and a few steps across a parking lot). A couple of shirts and a couple pairs of shorts!

Two good reasons I am happy I have been saving and not spending :)

Front shocks on my truck blown and not covered under warranty due to the "aftermarket status" of them...

Put them on at my uncles house...

....The same time I got a text from my girlfriend with this pic of her car...

That was my alternative to making the trip to the GEC open house  :D

Sorry to hear that... not a good alternative getting to GEC open house...

I hope nobody got hurt and the damage is not as bad... Have a nice sunday, my friend!

Kind regards
Andi

Thanks Andi,

She was not in the car and the man in the other car is okay :)

Not the end of the world by far.

Enjoy your weekend,

Kevin

Sorry to hear that, Kevin. It appears that her car was hit while parked from the way it is up on the curb. I'm so glad that I don't have to park on the street anymore. In the 30+ years that I've lived on the corner of an intersection, there have been at least 10 accidents that I can recall and I'm sure there are more that I've forgotten. It never fails to amaze me how careless people can be while driving. Family and friends have had vehicles totaled, buildings hit, a light pole taken down, and a cyclist was hit and knocked so high in the air that he took the one way sign off the post.

I hope for her sake whoever hit her car had insurance and stopped. Nothing irks me more than people who drive around uninsured and/or impaired, then take off whenever they get in an accident.

ETA: I see from your previous post that the other person was still there. Glad to hear everybody was okay.

Thanks Dan! Your frustrations sound crazy to me. In this case she was at work with her car parked. The insurance has all been worked out. The only worry is the totalled value being well under what we could replace it for. No real biggie though in the long run :)

Thanks you Dan :)

Kevin

Kevin,
sorry for your cars. I knew about the truck, but not about your gf's. Glad you have been saving and not spending...always a good choice. So, to distract you from the car issues, and remind you of where saving money could bring you  here's a couple pictures of a recent boat trip between Sardinia and Corse.

Man, Fausto that is such an amazing place! Thanks for the distraction!

I don't like looking at used cars. We just went to look at a VW in her range and within 2 minutes of inspecting it I compiled a list before I just walked away...

-RF headlight fogged/discolored.

-side view mirrors paint mismatched.

-dents on hood.

-heavy scratch on RF pillar.

-VW front grill spray painted.
-center radiator grill missing.
-wheels heavy curb rash.

-right side lower door pillar rust.

-hood rust spots.

-multiple scratches throughout paint.

That's without even going inside the car, checking under carpeting for body repair, checking the mechanics, test driving and inspecting the underbody and suspesion etc.

This is when my training for this kind of inspections makes finding a used car somewhat annoying :-p

Thanks my friends for letting me rant. I don't usually do that.

Fausto, that sure is beautiful scenery! Looks like a nice relaxing trip. Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks Dan! Your frustrations sound crazy to me.
Yeah, we've seen a little bit of everything with the exception of a fatality, thank goodness. Drunk drivers, stolen cars, flipped vehicles. The crazy thing is that it isn't even a really busy intersection. It's in the middle of a residential neighborhood with lots of one way streets and stop signs.

Thanks my friends for letting me rant. I don't usually do that.

Everybody needs a good rant once in a while. Good luck with the car search.

So, I've been carrying my new Case Peanut for the last two days straight since I got it.

Kind of scary how it gives you that feeling of "Ah crap, why did I have to go and waste my money on all these other pocket knives for?"

This thing really dominates your pocket once you give it a day or two to show what it is capable of.

I was in a pretty bad accident last wk. Lucky enough to go home Mon and feel like crap but a lot better. Broken leg, bad chest trauma from steering wheel and seatbelt. Steel toe shoes saved my foot from being takenwhen they tore the roof off my trk to get me out. My peanut went into my bag of junk when my cl9othes were cut off me. Doc said a spine fracture but a reg occurrence and it shouldn't affect me. I got so much pain and discomfort if my back is ok so be it its ok.

We all love these old knives and some of us may try to find a slower pace in them. I've made some good friends in the world of knives and the most important thing you can do tonight is to take your loved ones and hug them. Just tell them you love them. These old tools and knives and guns and cars will disappear over timme. Grab a loved one and give them a squeeze.

By all means don't put the knives down '). All I want right now is a cool night next to a campfire with my sweetheart. You guys and gals are good people and I amm glad to know you. Pls excuse the blunders I am using mmy cellph. Good night my compadres!
