"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

There are a lot of people walking in my neighborhood since the blanket house arrest. Stir-crazy already, I guess. There are a couple who wave or verbally greet, and at least one who talks. That's a good thing.

I met the guy three houses down, who'd recognized my name from elementary school. I recognized his when he mentioned it, because his last name sounded like a second first name. I think I remember what he looked like, too, because I used to write the kids' names on the back of the class photos. Then the next door neighbor on the other side turns out to have been in our same class also, and here we are living within five houses of each other, in the neighborhood that would still be going to that elementary school, if it were still an elementary school. And if the new one hadn't been built closer.

View attachment 1309175 Harry, do you all get into the various species of birds that visit?

I know some but am trying to learn what species our visitors are .
I added a touch of home to each feeder :)
We really like to have lots of birds & squirrels around . The Signs of Life is good encouragement to get out and about . We do get a fair amount of different species to visit our feeders . right now , we have 2 feeders in the back yard and 3 in the front where we can see them well . Plus , in the winter , I feed our squirrels some corn if it was a bad fall for nuts and acorns . We do not really Get Into the various species though . We enjoy the birds , but are not bird watchers as such .
Good to hear from you my friend . We hope to see you & Jan at Titusville in August .

Theres about 40 of these that visit...for sunflower seeds. I feel like the wicked witch of the west with my flamboyant winged servants....except they ignore my orders and fly into the kitchen to alert me of their hunger....as if the cacophanous racket they make outside isnt enough...cheers.

Just announced. :(

EVERYTHING is closed as of "immediately" for twenty one days. :(

I'm out of caffeine ... I don't have 21 days of nicotine stockpiled ... I don't know if I have 21 days of blood pressure medication or anti-pain pills left ... :(
I think I am going to be grumpy (at best) for a while. Especially when I run out of nicotine. :(

Surely the pharmacies have some limited hours , or partial-access time open??

We just got a shelter-in-place directive. It should leave grocery stores and pharmacies open, and my physical therapy. I do not expect it to change the way I have been living for the last three weeks. The other day, my boy committed what he called “a breach of protocol”, by talking his way into a cigar store to pick me up a few cigars.

Cigars are an essential in many ways ;) anyway, when cooped up it's important that people have some form of enjoyment(s):D I just fear that here (Finland) the govt might close the state monopoly Alko which is the booze outlet:eek::eek: Nja they wouldn't DARE, too much revenue lost;) plus there would be mass breakouts and break-ins :D:cool:

No caffeine??????

Now that would have me unnerved. When this all started, I got a couple extra boxes of my favorite Tetley English blend tea bags. Like my old Irish great Aunt Tessie always said, "No matter bad it seems, if you can make a good cup of tea, its not as bad as you think." ;)

No caffeine is a (proper term for a her dog) but one staffette just gave me one of her Mtn. Dew. :) That will postpone head hurt and shakes a little while.

No Walgreens in this sector of Terra. There is a local mum and pops pharmacy. They locked the doors a couple days ago. Curb side pickup and delivery only ... for the time being. I don't think they sell soda, or caffeine pills/powder, or I'd see about having some brought over on Friday's delivery.

With my "luck" if I had a vehicle, it would be out of fuel, now that the gas stations and convenience stores are closed.

Why would the gas stations be closed? All of ours are open and the gas is cheap.
