"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

You guys out West are on my mind these days. How is everyone managing with this killer - road buckling heat? How can anyone prepare for these kinds of temperatures? 82° F here in the mid-coast and we are complaining. :( Pushing into the 90°s, not to far inland. We are grumbling but as I remind my wife - we are getting the better end of this deal.

I hope you, who are truly in the midst of the sweltering heat, are managing and staying well. Take care.
Well, I’ve lived in SF since 1981 and in my current abode for over 30 years. During those 30+ years it has never gotten over 80 degrees Fahrenheit at my home and this is why. The marine layer is a beautiful thing. 😃

Good for you sf fanatic sf fanatic - sounds like a paradise - in that regard. We have flipped the other way from Tuesday to Friday as it is now in the high 50°F here. Yup - that marine effect! Actually just 57° F today at noon from the 84°F Tuesday.

Is there someone from the Neighborhood Watch that goes around your neighborhood with a level making sure all the trash cans are lined up and even?

I read somewhere that ever since Dirty Harry was filmed they have teams of trained Raccoons which go out on bin night in a miniature Raccoon truck wearing miniature Raccoon sized hard hats and hi vis vests....and in return for the best of the garbage they straighten the nins up......is that true?

Hilarity aside, it is nice to see people proud of their neighborhood!! 🤔

I totally agree with you Jack Jack Black Jack Black . I think it's neat that we get to see pictures of various member's communities. sf fanatic sf fanatic 's neighbor hood is really nice. I was just thinking of the stark difference between his neatly placed, recycle (paper, glass, plastic) trash cans to my dumpster where anything goes except wet paint and lead acid batteries and none of the neighbors think it's unsightly. :)

Well, if the marine layer wasn’t there you would be able to see the cross at the top of Mt. Davidson in the upper right corner. At the base is where Harry used his switchblade to stab Scorpio and save own his life. I’m not sure if any raccoons were involved but they do indeed inhabit the city. Maybe we need a sequel? 🤔 😝 Involving raccoons.

If any of my San Fran buddies ever see the school bus being driven by a Raccoon......dont be afraid....just start singing....you know the words.....oh and btw in case any one is concerned....the Racooon out of Pocahontas...."Meko"...is nothing to do with me.....uuurrhhuurhhh
Uurrgg....BOOOMMM...splash.

Speaking of garbage raccoons reminds me of missiles.
Our garbage collectors have nothing to fear from trained raccoons, or it would have happened already.
But the garbage trucks will be autonomous as soon as possible, which will mean thousands of heavy trucks subject to cyber-attack, which means I won't feel safe without a few Mills rockets, to return to Dirty Harry (The Enforcer).

I'm in Sacramento, not that far from San Francisco, but when our raccoons mess with the garbage cans, it's not because they're trying to straighten them up...maybe the SF trash pandas could come up here and offer some training sessions to the locals. 🦝🗑️

The Sacramento Chapter of Hell's Procyons are notorious rebel rousers with links to the South American and Southern Central American Coati and Cacomistle cartels. The goody twoshoes life of their San Franciscan surburbanite cousins is not their bag.

I’m sure they can and while they’re at it some topography lessons too‼️😉
