"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Anyone seen the movie The Wild Bunch? Don't watch this scene, the ending shootout, if you haven't. Quite violent. Great movie, first saw it when I was about 15 or so. Desperate evil men who weren't as evil as some. Gunfighters at the end of the Old West. If not for John Wayne or Clint Eastwood, this would be my favorite western. When I was younger, the big shootouts were pretty cool. Sam Peckinpah was a master. Now, I can see that he was having a good time, but he was trying to show how there will always be someone ready to take the bad guys place.

I wanted to find the scene of William Holden and the others, with Ernest Borgnine waiting for them outside the "house of ill repute", he was cool as a cucumber, whittling on a piece of wood. They came out, and it was go time. Great movie.

Yes, Sam Peckinpah certainly knew how to make a great film

Well, I was in the hospital today. But for great news ... :D
My wife´s sister got her baby this night. The little boy is nearly six pounds heavy and about 20 inch length. What a nice little baby... I just wanted to share it :)
(Sorry, for the pic but the light in hospital is no big deal in the evening)

I´m really stunned by such a little baby. Especially that little fingers are really great. :)

Hey congratulations on being an uncle Andi, that's great news! :)

Congrats Andi!

being an uncle is GREAT
you get to be the "crazy, fun uncle" teach them stuff that would mortify their mothers ;)
and then if they mess their diaper or start crying you can give them back, its the best of all worlds :D

one of my favorite stories, my nephew was about 4 at the time and he ..passed gas
he looked at me sheepishly and i said, NO NO you gotta say FIRE in the hole first!

well he laughed and laughed...the next morning my brother-in-law called first thing
he wanted to know who taught the boy to say fire in the hole and pass gas...apparently the first thing he did that morning ...wasnt to say good morning, wasnt to ask for breakfast, the FIRST thing he did was come down the stairs and look at his folks and said FIRE IN THE HOLE! and proceeded to let one rip. Dad thought it was hilarious, MOM however was NOT amused :D

yeah good times

You'll have to change your signature line now. Congratulations Uncle Andi!

It already happened, Frank :)

A belated congratulations, Uncle Andi!

Having a nephew is pretty cool. You can play with them. You can take them fishing, hunting and all the fun stuff. Then you take them home and mama and papa deal with all the nonsense! ;)

Yep!!

Just like grandkids. You get the best of both worlds without the hassle.

Of course, you have to start now putting aside a few pocket knives and a .22 rifle for future use.

Carl.

Congratulations Andi! Now that's about the best reason to got to a hospital :) I bet you are gonna be a wonderful Unkle to that little tyke

Yeah, I´m already looking forward messing around with the little guy... searching for mushrooms in the woods and building little camps (and all the rest of the knife related stuff) - I might look for some nice knives for him... :D I´m sure I gonna find something he would like. Just agreeing with Carls & Garys post :)

Duane - yes, that´s the best way going to hospital - in any way :) I hope getting a good uncle, seriously.
