And if there's a Western Musical division, I'll vote for Paint Your Wagon.

I think I still have the soundtrack LP in the basement somewhere. I once lived with several guys, all of whom (except me) were members of various college choral groups, and a medley from Paint Your Wagon often broke out spontaneously while washing dishes after supper. Tough to beat Lee Marvin singing "I Was Born Under a Wandering Star"! And the vocal stylings of Clint Eastwood are priceless!...
One of my all time favorite movies
Makes me smile just thinking about it![]()
I really enjoyed Lonesome Dove; my wife and I have watched the entire series several times (and I like the book at least as much as the TV miniseries). How about the Lonesome Dove miniseries? Wouldn’t say it’s my all time favorite, but I enjoyed it a lot and it did have Robert Duvall in it who is one of my favorite actors. Really like Open Range also.
Most impressive thing about the traditional knives in those westerns is the way they can cut through a 5/8” rope with one effortless swipe, (if the plot calls for it.)Best thing about Westerns is; you just know they have a traditional knife in their pocket!![]()
I've seen it happen many times in real life... if there's enough pressure on the rope. Most impressive thing about the traditional knives in those westerns is the way they can cut through a 5/8” rope with one effortless swipe

And if we're counting TV westerns, probably the first western I watched was The Lone Ranger, and all other westerns are measured by that standard.

Fixed."...vocal GRUMBLINGS of Clint Eastwood"![]()
Or too much anxiety to function. Of course they did have their emotional support horse. And nobody is depressed because they were bullied on social media.
Saw that when it came out. Didn't care for it. Maybe I should watch again. Favorite Clint Eastwood westerns: The Outlaw Josey Wales and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.
I loved the scene where he teaches the stuttering boy not to stutter. As far as Best Westerns, it might not be _The Best_, but my favorite is The Coyboys with John Wayne.
Mine's when they're about to hang Nightlinger and he asks the Lord's forgiveness for the men he's about to kill.I loved the scene where he teaches the stuttering boy not to stutter.
Maybe the speech pathologist at our school should try that.I loved the scene where he teaches the stuttering boy not to stutter.
Thanks for the Christmas greetings, John, and I hope you and all the other BF members have a Happy Christmas and a Blessed New Year!Hey folks! Hope everyone is having a great holiday season and staying safe and healthy! Remember to appreciate and cherish your family and loved ones at this time of year and year-round. That includes pets!
You just never know how many years or days you will have with them. If there are important things to say, say them. If there are fences to mend, mend them.
No, I have not experienced a recent loss, nor am I expecting an imminent demise, but these are things you think about as you get older, and good to remember.
Most of you probably have no idea who I am (I don't post much these days), but I still check in and read regularly. I have not been adding to my collection for a while (but not selling either!) so I don't usually have much to add. I try to contribute here and there, though.
I have been one of Santa's elves for the past 15 years (meaning: I work for a company which does most of its business this time of year) so I will be glad to see the holiday season end. But I do hope all you good boys and girls out there get something fun in your stockings, so even though the work can be a bit stressful, I still enjoy it.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or just in general Have a Good December depending on your beliefs or inclinations!
If they are sharpened the right way: reprofiled at 10° per side on a coarse stone, honed on a fine stone for edge keeness and stropped on Russian foal leather, then no pressure needed.I've seen it happen many times in real life... if there's enough pressure on the rope.
There is iron in your wordsThe Outlaw Josey Wales
I read the book many, many years ago. There is iron in your words
The book is good too..Gone or Going To Texas...
The newer version of True Grit gets a 5 from me.
Covered by the Pistols.I was quite a few pages back, but now for some reason I have a craving to put this album on...
