"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

My garage proudly displays a metallic poster I purchased at a British bike rally which says, "I'd rather be pushing my Brit bike than riding your American hog!" No offense to anyone, it's just that a certain style of riding causes me to appreciate a certain style bike. :)

Perhaps you meant, "I'd rather be pushing my Brit bike than pushing your American hog!"

Sadly, you are comparing apples to apples.

I’ve said this here before. If you want to be happy for a day…drink, if you want to be happy for a year…marry, if you want to be happy for a lifetime…RIDE A BMW!😃

Having been a long time BMW rider, I’ve had many people ask me if I’d ever consider getting a Harley. I tell them when I buy a boat I’ll get a Harley cause they make great anchors! 😜

sf fanatic sf fanatic Just kidding, sf. BMW is a great marque with a great history. It's just not my thing.
Thank you, BMW does have a long and storied history. But going slow is just not my thing and even my son who’s an 81 club member finally got tired of his Hogs breaking down and bought a K1600 Bagger. Ducks are great bikes too but have you ever tried to adjust the valves on one? 😃

While I appreciate your need for speed, the BMW doesn't meet the minimum speed requirements in California. You may have heard of a tiny little island nation called Japan. They have been known to make a motorcycle or two.

1966 long, long time ago.......
I wish I still had it.
I still have the Old Timer Stockman that was in my pocket!

I have owned many Japanese motorcycles my last one was a ZX1100 Ninja. It would go 80mph in first gear and there were four more. As for BMW not meeting minimum CA speed requirements, I think this one would disagree with that.

How about British cars? I had one just like this back in the day:

Wire wheels with knock-off hubs, SU carburetors, an oil cooler - great stuff.
When the ignition switch broke, I rigged a push-button starter from parts I got at the local Radio Shack. I’m sure everybody knows the old joke about Lucas electrical systems…

I had a 1968 Triumph GT-6 in the early '70s. It was yellow, just like this one! Mine had the wire wheels with knock off hubs too. I wish I could find a pic of the dashboard. I loved that walnut dashboard!

U.S. market Focus or EU market Focus (or UK market Focus)? Just wondering.
Charlie, my Focus was a 2007 sedan (black with a little "wing" on the trunk) that I bought in 2010 with 30K miles on it. Mine was also relatively trouble-free, and I sold mine to my daughter for a dollar in August 2020. She's still driving it (although I think she'd like to get something newer). I haven't really had "a car of my own" since she got my Focus. My wife and I seem to be doing fine with just my wife's 2005 Civic. (I should put a SAK in the glove box, though.)

- GT
Canadian-market Focus - almost identical to USA model! We had a litle "wing" also
They were good cars up to 2010. When they changed the transmission (double-clutch) and a few other things after 2010, they became less reliable, and cranky to drive!!
