I will just leave this picture of a goat looking through a window here with no context, because I can.

Based on my limited experience, sample size of 1, goats are a little weird.

I'll leave an animal photo, too, and will even give a tiny bit of context. I'll also add a knife to the pic, because I can. 🤓
My wife took this photo late Wednesday night when she took the dog out to the back yard to do his business. (Since at this time of year, I usually go to bed when it's still light, I'd been sleeping for a few hours already.) The dog, who is smaller than any of these 3 coons, somehow managed to send them up an oak tree instead of inspiring them to tear him into tiny pieces! It's not for nothing his name is Gandalf; it must have been wizardry that sent those 3 young coons up the tree.

Raccoons are bad enough already, don't give them pocketknives!

We've been living in this house in what some would call the "inner city" for over 37 years, and this is the first time I've seen raccoons on our property, so I felt obligated to act like the Welcome Wagon. 🤓 😁 Squirrels are a constant presence in our yard, and we've seen plenty of skunks (not for several years, thankfully), possums, chipmunks/ground squirrels, mice, and occasional birds of prey, but never raccoons until now.
(Full disclosure for anyone to whom it isn't obvious: the raccoon photo is genuine, but the addition of the knife is my feeble, amateur, low-quality time-intense attempt at "DIY photo-shopping".)

We've been plagued this year by a raccoon. He likes our bird feeders, and if I don't put them away every night he trashes them. I don't have a picture of him, but the problem he causes me reminds me of all the things I might not have seen if we didn't live where we do. Our approx 2 acre suburban lot borders a green corridor, and a 90 acre forever wild park.

I've posted most of these pics on this forum before, but not together and not in awhile. I was scrolling through my imgur pics and decided I'd post the ones I came across again.

Sorry no knife in the images, but I can guarantee I had at least one traditional knife in my pocket when I took each of these pics!

This critter seems to be enjoying his apple.

Mama left this youngster on our lawn while she went off to forage. She came back for him a few hours later. I was far away using a long lens when I took this pic.

This is probably not the same fawn.

We see many does and fawns. The buck are usually very wary.

Lots of turkeys. It's a bonus that they love to eat deer ticks.

This is one of my favorites. The Woodpecker ended up lunging at the Blue jay, and claiming the suet as his prize.

Truth to tell, I don't own that "Birthday Barlow". It's just a picture that I found. I don't remember exactly where I found it. I've been using it for a few years now.
I've seen Barlows like that at gun and knife shows I've attended; they're usually vastly overpriced in that setting.
And given the kinds of pocket knives I tend to buy, I can usually find knives that look very similar to the picture Frank posted at the websites I frequent. I checked at my current favorite online knife emporium and found a knife almost identical to the one Frank showed selling for under $3. Can hardly afford NOT to buy it! 🤓

Beautiful images Gary and I've always loved your setting. Are you by any chance anywhere near Andrew Camarata? (assuming you are familiar with him - youtube) Anyway, I had the same issues with raccoons and bird feeders and then when that was solved I spent another couple of years battling the squirrels on the bird feeders. I eventually found two spots that were far enough away from any other vegetation and put the feeders on very high posts, locked the lids and built huge upside down slick metal funnels under them and a slick metal tube under that. I've had good luck now for the last few years. Maybe once every other year there will be a squirrel Houdini that has to be dealt with. The birds alone consume approximately 200 lbs of seed a month.EE99D6C0-E796-4FAA-9FFC-FB0D281E2358_1_201_a.jpegAC159F7D-7152-4811-82BA-7DE52CA01ADB_1_201_a.jpeg

Thanks Dwight! You've got a nice spot there too! I do get a few gray squirrels now and then. There's one feeder that is easily accessible to them. Seems to keep them happy.

I think we're using 80 to 120 lbs of mixed birdseed a month. Thank the lord for Costco!

Camarata is near Saugerties, NY. That's on the Hudson, north of Kingston. We live in Onondaga Hill, a Hamlet SW of Syracuse. We're on a hilltop, overlooking the Onondaga Valley and the hills to the east of us.
