It sure takes the cool factor down a notch after reading the vitriol from yesterday. The Forum Knife is not worth the disruption it causes. I wish it would just go away.
Great photos Gary, thanks for sharing them. Those boats bring back another time. That must have been something seeing them rumble past. Here are some photos of the fascinating vintage wooden boats, mostly made by ChrisCraft, we often see on Lake Huron during our vacations.

I don’t frequent this thread but had to come check out the wooden boat pictures you alluded to, Gary. They are such cool boats. Great shots! When I was a kid some friends of ours had a Chris Craft and we used to go to Lake Tahoe with them every summer. I used to tube behind it. Theirs was called Mai Tai.Here are some photos of the fascinating vintage wooden boats, mostly made by ChrisCraft, we often see on Lake Huron during our vacations.

Thanks for the positive reactions to boats I really have no connection to other than really enjoying the opportunity to watch them.Beautiful boat!
Tubing behind one of those vintage Chris Crafts must have been a blast, Bart!I don’t frequent this thread but had to come check out the wooden boat pictures you alluded to, Gary. Duane, they have an annual Antique Wooden Boat Show up here the second Saturday of every August, and we happen to rent a cottage on the lake that usually includes that date. I used to enjoy sitting outside the week leading up to the boat show watching boats cruising up and down the channel between the cottage we rented and the island across from it. A day or two before the show they had some kind of "poker run" for boat show participants, and one of the checkpoints was on a little strip of land about 100 feet across a lagoon from the place we rent (that's where the docks in my pics are). But there seem to be substantially fewer boats to watch preceding the boat show the past several years. Maybe a lot of the boat owners are getting old enough that it's more of a challenge to get their boats out and about. My first wife's mother had a place at Sunapee Lake in NH, and under the house was a dock with hoists to lift their Chris Craft up from the water. What a beautiful boat, big inboard engine, rode so nice. Seeing those wooden boats on Lake Huron reminded me of the couple of times I got to see parades of them on Lake Sunapee on the 4th of July. This was Back in the 80's but even then, the sight of those beautifully built craft was something to see.
Sounds beautiful, any pictures?Theres a boat in Narooma...The Wagonga Princess...117 years old...it does scenic cruises up the inlet most days...used to be steam powered then diesel...the new owner has put an electric dc motor in it...she glides silently through the water.
Even as a little kid I knew it was special.Tubing behind one of those vintage Chris Crafts must have been a blast, Bart!

Lake Tahoe is such a magical place. I was there two summers ago during wild fires and still had a great time and caught some yummy trout. That is such an epic cruiser. We went kayaking and apparently one of the properties we were paddling by was owned by non other than Zuckerberg, and he apparently doesn’t like it when kayakers and such get too close to his end, so we of course got closeEven as a little kid I knew it was special.
One of the coolest ones on Lake Tahoe is this cruiser called Thunderbird. (Not my picture)
