"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Hey y'all, I'm new to the forum so I thought I'd say hi. I found bladeforums a while ago looking for sharpening info, but I decided to join the forum after reading some of J jackknife 's great stories. Looking forward to being part of the community!

nice! i remember my first one, and dragging it thru those awful v shaped carbide my local knife dealer shilled me into. After a few passes, I immediately regretted it

Welcome Jeff, glad you found you way here. I think you'll enjoy it.
Here's a thread you may enjoy dedicated to multi-tools/knives including Swiss Army Knives

Oh, the weather outside is FRIGHTFUL
Ours is on its way Thursday thru Saturday winter storm watch. 6+" of snow, 50mph winds
ya'll stay safe now... better yet stay indoors ☃️

If it gets bad here, I'll have to put snow chains on my walker! I was just graduating last Monday's PT session to using a cane, but I don't know if the rubber cane tip is snow rated.😕

I am enjoying some winter sun at the moment, but still suffering with my back 🙄 My plan for today was to walk along the beach, and have a paddle in the Atlantic 🙂 Then I realised that if I sat down on the sand to take off my shoes, I probably wouldn't be able to get up again! 😱☹️ Need a new plan! 😁😉👍

As long as it involves some of that sunshine I see in the background, it should be good!!
Hope your back feels better soon, Jack!! Maybe for Christmas!!🎅

Hey Jeff, you can do a heck of lot worse than having a SAK in the pocket. My first SAK was in 1969, and theres been one of some kind in my pocket or pack ever since. As I got 'older' I've been moving more and more in the SAK direction as an EDC pocket knife. There's just been too many times a few basic tools got me out of a situation. It's amazing what you can fix if you can just get into it to fiddle with it.

Sorry to hear of your back problems, Jack. Its a serious bummer when your back. is out, and it hurts just to move. But it looks like you're doing okay, having a little little something in that glass, hopefully with some alcohol content.

Pain always seems more manageable if you have a booze you like!

Thanks a lot Charlie, in the mid 70's here :) Temperature, not period! 😳😁Unfortunately, lugging luggage about on Tuesday, and having to share my 'seat' on the aircraft with the largest lady on the plane, were not great for my back! 😱👍

Thanks Carl, I think I'm stuck with them unfortunately ☹️ Not the worst it's been this year, thankfully 😱 Yeah, on an all-inclusive, but the cocktails are so watery, I've gone back to drinking beer! 🙄 Glad I packed my hip-flask 😉 Hope you continue to get more mobile buddy 🙂👍

Good to hear you've graduated. One small step for Carl, one giant leap for the medical community.
Unlikely that you'll need it (you lucky Texan) but they must make radial snow tips for canes ;)
