Well ..I don't know if its a stroke of good luck or bad financial investment

But I talked to the service manager this morning and they said it's probably a rebuild...what's that gonna run me
Probably 10k

Should I just go start looking for a new vehicle
And they said...I would

Sooooo I tried my hand and managed to get approved for a 2014 Toyota RAV4
The payments will absolutely suck
But at least I have reliable transportation for me and the wife
Go online for.."dog and lemon guides"....

My wife is in the industry
And has been since I was a wee tyke
She knew the finance manager personally and vice versa
She is confident that he wouldn't screw us over
And I trust the wife's judgement on these matters

You should have good luck with that RAV4. Sorry it had to happen though. We had a 2007 Toyota RAV4 that was great for 10 years before we traded it in for a Subaru WRX (which we sold in February, since I have my 9 year old 2015 Forester turbo XT).

We're down to two cars and one car payment for my wife's 2021 Subaru Ascent, at 0.9% for another 18 months, ending right about the time that my Forester turbo turns 10 years old. Then I might be looking at a new car.

They told me the same thing about my Tacoma
Which didn't make it to 155k miles before this

But I appreciate the well wishes ☺️

Thats unusual low miles for a Toyota truck failure. Can you tell me what the problem was? I'm curious, having two previous Toyota pickups and both went to very high milages.

I am not a car guy so bear with me

The timing rod or maybe timing guide
Got damaged and shrapnel got into the engine itself

Timing chain?

If the timing got screwed up and the engine is an interference engine vs a non interference engine, then yeah, the poach is screwed. I don't know what engine you had, but both my old Toyota pickups had a timing chain and not a timing belt. The chain should, under normal circumstances, be good for the life of the engine, but if a timing belt goes, yeah, big problems. Thats why they ( the timing belts) get replaced at a designated milage.

It's weird tho
It's running fine
The only issue is it's absolute dumping coolant
Like I can fill it up and be empty an hour later

Dumping coolant on the ground as in leak? or burning up coolant and it's vaporizing and disappearing (head gasket)?

Pretty sure I haven't seen a Timing Rod, but have seen a Timing Guide go, and then the cams cam jump a tooth or too and the valves can hit the pistons.
