"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Yeah I am mate
I edited my original post to include a link. Should have figured I am on a knife site, so of course that was what you were asking for.

Hopefully the post is helpful. Besides removing the press fit scales, the rest should be same for breaking a knife down to its components and rebuilding one. There are also quite a few good videos on YouTube on the process, FFD Restorations is one I like.

We got 8 to 9 inches of snow overnight. My snow plow contract may still be a good investment this season. My feathered friends appreciate the birdseed this time of the year.
Please disregard my finger!

ummm...I spent the afternoon weed wacking.
No pics.
But I will say that before weed wacking I try to clear the yard of dog poo. And sometimes I miss some under a growth of weed. And you know there is a certain simularity between a weed wacker string and a fan blade. I will just leave it at that.

What ever happened to crew-neck sweatshirts, and why should I pay to advertise Nike?
I guess I'll wear my polo shirt over a thermal undershirt.

And googling U of M pocketknife gets me the Regents' weapons policy.

Old Hickory is being made in China.
The southern e-tailer without free shipping is describing an Old Hickory outdoor mini filet knife as being made of 1075 steel and originating in China.

I know we knew the Ontario factory had been closed, but I didn't know whether they'd move American -made lines offshore or just drop them.

Yesterday I shoveled snow for the first time all season. I can't recall having "first shovelable snow" as late as January 9 in the 39 years I've lived in our current house.

Weather forecast indicates I may be shoveling for at least 9 consecutive days, starting yesterday. The forecast suggests high temps for Sunday through next Wednesday in the teens, lows in single digits early next week. Winter time, and the livin' ain't easy...

There are no signs of snow this morning! The higher temperatures and high winds, with gusts of up to 60 mph, have taken care of the snow. I found a cluster of feathers in the yard, and a hawk or one of our neighborhood stray cats is likely to blame. Having bird feeders has its unfortunate downside. At first, I thought they were Blue Jay feathers, but after a closer look, I'm leaning towards woodpecker feathers.

I love your pictures !
Smokey the Bear says : don't sleep on highways...

Thanks, Alain! I get a kick out of taking and posting them here!
That video is amazing! That's quite a leap!

Great day antiquing. Al this for $34.

The belt buckle is just a hair under 5" long. I can't find the maker, but it's made in USA, limited edition, and serial numbered.
The long stockman is a Kabar, and the little jack is a Landers, Frary, and Clark. The French alpin -looking one is unmarked. The LF&C has a broken pen and a weak walk and talk on the main, but I think it's still worth $4.
The aluminum thing is a Jergens speed handle. $4; why not?
