"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

We had a few squalls move through. Internet was lost twice due to power blips. Gotta love it! At least, the power has been staying on so far!

Great day antiquing. Al this for $34.

The belt buckle is just a hair under 5" long. I can't find the maker, but it's made in USA, limited edition, and serial numbered.
The long stockman is a Kabar, and the little jack is a Landers, Frary, and Clark. The French alpin -looking one is unmarked. The LF&C has a broken pen and a weak walk and talk on the main, but I think it's still worth $4.
The aluminum thing is a Jergens speed handle. $4; why not?
Great finds Jer, particularly the Alpin 😎👍
Winter has blown in with our first light snow that stayed this winter!! Streets are icy; I'm staying home anyway with a cold; perusing my billions of pictures/scans!!
I came across this FB from Arno Bernard, from South Africa, which sadly I no longer own!!
I got it from this pleasant man at Oregon, in 2007!! I also got a Warthog keychain from him which I still have!! I hope he is making a living at knifemaking!!View attachment 2456300

Warthog keychain by Arno - 2007 (larger than lifesize!!)

(P.S. My Yellow background microfiber cloth is 15-16 years old!!!)
Hope you're feeling better soon Charlie 😊 Great-looking FB, and I love your keychain 😎 You've had your money's worth out of that cloth! 😁👍

Thanks! I think Alpin is what it is. I almost passed because of the hugely loose joint with an off-center pin. Peening the pin might have opened the gap wider. But for $6, I had to risk it. I managed to squeeze the gap side with monkey-head pliers while peening the pin. It feels much more solid, though I still won't be using it as a prybar.

Magnetic bolsters are nickel-plated, as is the blade.

I spent yesterday afternoon watching the Bills-Steelers game, while also coon fingering a few of my knives. It was one of those games where I didn't have a clear favorite. Both of my parents were from the Pittsburgh area, and I lived in Niagara Falls, near Buffalo, for a few years. It was nice to see the Bills still in the running. I got a kick out of watching the fans clean a foot or more of snow from their seats!

I suppose it's time for me to go outside and feed the birds. The turkeys are becoming restless!

Snowing in the city!! 5" now with another 5" expected - ongoing!!
I'll shovel it again, when it slows down!!View attachment 2460609
Nice picture, Charlie! Are you planning to get your sled out and conquer a hill? No? Neither would I! However, I had to run the snowblower and shovel earlier because we had a little snow, but it wasn't enough to meet our snowplow guy's 3-inch requirement. I had to bundle up since it was 11°F outside.

Your snowblower does a good job, Gary!! It's cold in Syracuse!! It's only 0 degrees C here (32 degrees F)! We'll shovel it, and in a few days, it might melt - groan!!!
