"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Wow Mississippi is hit with an ice storm that looks wicked.i don't miss running through freezing swamps carring a big stick with a roller to knock ice off the lines, fun part was playing dodge the icicles.but I can't think that happened to often in Mississippi.

Some years ago I worked in a chem lab with the gutarist who first played that famous guitar line in Pretty Woman. He happened to be around the Florida recording studio when Roy Orbison wanted to work on the song. He said they worked out that guitar line together. But he wasn't on the released recording. He later moved from Florida to Los Angeles, dropped out of music, and went to work for a sealant company, which was where I met him in the lab.

I hope I’m not overstepping the bounds of good taste but I just found out some terrible news. Ryan, the 33 year old son of one of our finest and most revered members Vincent Mazzei VCM3 VCM3 passed away this past Thursday January 22,2026. May his memory be a blessing and to Vincent and his entire family my deepest BladeForums condolences.

I can't imagine what you are going through, Vince. My sincere condolences to you, your wife, and your family.

Thanks fellas. I wanted to post a few things but just didn’t feel it. I’m glad Alan posted
Reading everyone’s posts and talking helps a little for me I’m very emotional
I wanted to post on the French Friday thread I have both sizes of Liadou and corkscrew model too but it just didn’t happen.
With the handmade slipjoint market being slow during our uncertain times ( consider silver and gold prices as an indicator ), the small handful of makers I work with have slowed a bit , sending their work.
But in the near future I’ll have some nice stuff to show and offer. I hope I have the strength and courage to continue with the knives. I love the community of . Its enjoyment in many ways for me
