No. The line is, "He won't eat it. He hates everything."

As it was meant to. :D

I got a chuckle from yours.

Grumpiness can be a way of life. My surname is Wilson. Might change my first to Richard.

Think I might have found a modding cap for you Frank! :D

(Let me know and I'll try and find a box to put it in :) )

(BTW, that's printed, I've not just been scribbling with a ballpoint! ;) )

Pearl at age 12. Her birthday is today, so she's gonna get a nice steak tonight. This little girl has been a best friend for me and Karen for all these years, and I'm depressed at the thought that she's like me, much closer to the end than the begging. It's not fair in the cosmic scheme of things that dogs are such great companions, but they can't stay around longer. Pearl, also known as Pearl the wonder corgi, is the smartest dog I've ever known. At this point in time, I'm not sure what she doesn't understand.

Happy birthday, Pearl! Congrats, Carl, on such a good friend.

Our little Maltese, G.G. (short for Giada Girl) is also smarter than I would have ever believed for a dog. She does the usual tricks and all, but she understands speech in a way I didn't think possible for an animal.

If you say, "Need t'go pottie?" and she does, she starts jumping up and down. You can say all sorts of things to her without any change in inflection and she knows the difference. Get in bed, lay down, Mommie's home (screeching and leaps of ecstasy at this one!), wanna treat? (almost as wild), and more I can't think of. My wife may need a psychiatrist when G.G. goes. That will be a sad day, indeed.

My old dog is in bad shape, he can hardly get around. These last few days though, he has been practically bounding up the steps. He is about 12 or 13, and was always the one in charge of the other pups. The younger two always gave him a ton of respect. Now, they practically run over top of him when it's feeding time. The old pup gives me a couple thumps of his tail when I come home though. Old, going blind and deaf, but he is glad to see me.

Nice to see your (other?) family members...I love dogs and have owned many breeds in my life..My Chesapeake is the cream of them all and a much loved family member..I swear this dog is psychic !...It will be a very sad day when he passes over................FES

Yes, Chesapeake's are very good dogs. I have a friend that did a lot of travel to other countries, so I took care of his dog. She loved riding in the back of my little Samurai. One day I was going through a drive through teller at the bank with the dog laying down in back when some idiot probably up to no good approached me from the rear. As this person came within feet of the back of my car, Hillary jumped up showing this person a lot of teeth along with a growl that I'm sure sent a chill down that persons spine.
Yes, they are also very protective. ;)
Nice knife by the way. ;)

Here's an old B&W photo of my old buddy in the car.

BALLENJX.....I fully understand...They were bred to do multiple cold water retrieves AND protect the produce when it was at market (back in the waterfowling days of old). I will never own any other breed of dog............FES

Thought I would join in...
I have always had Border Collies myself. Jess (lying down) is almost 5 years old and Finlay is 11 months.

Two more completely different characters you couldn't find again, and totally faithful both. Jess was originally trained as a mountain rescue dog (my fiancé was a handler, not me) and has a better nose than any animal I have ever known. I used to do bodying when she was training and I've watched her strike a scent from almost a mile away. It's an amazing thing to watch. Finlay is still a pup and of course is mental at the minute but Claire is thinking about training him up. He has the makings of a good search dog, he's keen and he has a ball trigger.

I too had a Border Collie after Hilary. Very smart dog, in fact, if you do a search online you will find that people in the know will say that a Border Collie is at the top of the heap for intelligence.
Below you will see a photo of Roscoe. He was not only smart, but a smart a$$ as well. Since you are familiar with the breed, I'm sure you might agree with me. ;)

He loved to play with his ball.

Fes, it is good to see people on the other side of the world appreciate the Chesapeake Bay retriever. I've heard from others that the dogs are great with people, but very territorial of their family when it comes to other dogs. Riding herd on Dobermans, German Shepherds, other retrievers and even Jack Russells. What are your thoughts? I'd like to get a Chesapeake, but I am a two dog person.

DAN....I have owned pedigree Shepherds and Dobermans...My Chessy stands head and shoulders above any of them in every department...Truly loyal, fearless and committed to its owner and family...They require a firm hand in training as they are very strong willed in character...My dog will interact with all other animals unless i tell it otherwise...Get one ,you wont be disappointed im sure.....Oh yes and they have a fine nose for hunting and will hunt blackberry and gorse when other dogs wont.......FES

Hi, I've been a printer for the past 26 odd years and thought I'd share some pic's with you all.
I've had loads of these Footprint ink knives over the years, the're used for getting ink out of the tins and onto the presses and for mixing.

Thanks for looking, hope you find them interesting

That's a coincidence Kris, I was buying some old tools from a great stall in Leeds market yesterday, and there was a feller who used to work at Footprint in Sheffield perusing the stall alongside me.

I was awarded a printing apprenticeship when I left school, the only one in Sheffield that year, but I decided to do something else instead. Later I printed offset-litho for a couple of years.

There's a small printers where I live called Footprint too.

Thanks for the post :)

Jack

Sure is a small world Jack, I'm an offset tradesman. I love it, wouldn't want to do anything else. I'm waiting for our guillotine blade to be changed out so I can post some pic's, now that's one seriously big (1200mm) piece of chisel ground blade steel.
