"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Just a test to see if I can post - I've been trying to post in the thread I started earlier for the past 20 minutes! :(

... I've added a new little soul to our household:

Lila (Lee-la), a sweet, 1.5 yr old chihuahua mix.

We made it through two especially wet walks last night (drenched doggity!), but when she got to the edge of the porch this morning and saw the rain A-gain? Nope nope nope! We're making extra memories as we work through "taking care of necessary business in a downpour" in this, our first week together.

What a sweet face!

Routine of the daily start.

Two years in with a dog now four years old, and she has learned nearly all there is about my home routine. I'm one of those guys that once I open my eyes, I'm up. Not going back to sleep. I usually wake right about 0400 each morning, everyday, day in and day out. Once the pooch caught on to this, she decided she'd assist. So about 0400 I sense her putting her front paws on my side if the bed as she has just gotten out of her bead and walked around our bed to my side. Then I feel two gentle paw scratches, usually on my arm. Not one. Not three. Two. Then I feel her breath on my face. I know what I'll see when I open my eyes. My day has begun, and I'd now have it no other way. Dogs just make life better.

They certainly do. My little Boston terrier puppy wakes me up every morning to let me know he has to go outside. He either climbs on me, or dances around in my bed. :o

Good morning, everyone!

Crossing the line and meeting Neptunus Rex, Ruler of the Raging Main, and His Royal Scribe, Davey Jones and being initiated into the Solemn Mysteries of the Ancient Order of the Deep. Fairly uncommon for a Soldier. My time in the Army truly was an adventure. Sometimes I miss it.

Need a little feel-good news, guys? A refreshing dose of sanity?

Tonight my wife told me that our son, 8 and in the third grade, will be doing a project in class tomorrow. His teacher sent word that they need to bring in "a potato and a knife." To school! So much for the Euro nanny state. Now, to figure out which of his knives he'll bring!

Very cool! Was there an initiation ceremony involved? I remember well my Golden Dragon initiation for crossing the international dateline:eek: while in the Coast Guard...good memories!

That is good.

Sadly, I'd no longer be surprised to later hear the kids where suspended and the teacher charged with a felony like reckless endangerment or some such.

Impacted wisdom teeth feel like someone is digging in my jaw for gold. Got a splinter in my foot, diabetic neuropathy makes it feel like a broken bone. Feel nothing or feel horrible pain. Fatty liver hepatitis(not from booze) makes taking the antibiotics for both sickly. Bad guts, bad teeth and bad feet.

It drives a fat guy to drink, but I can't do that right now either. At least a ton of yogurt isn't bad. Gotta get probiotics etc. even though Greek yogurt is the best for you I can't stand that rancid putrid stuff. Activia for me!

Check my location. This Florida Cracker's in Europe. The odds of a SWAT team storming the school. and a news helicopter hovering overhead, bringing round-the-clock coverage of the Great Potato Slaughter are precisely zero. With that said, the lad knows this is an out-of-the-ordinary occasion, that normally the knife stays home when he's at school.

I had a knife in my pocket since I was in the fifth grade or so. My high school chemistry teacher always seemed to need a knife but never had one so just borrowed one of ours. My graduating class bought our principal a shotgun and presented to him on stage in the auditorium. Sense was more common then.

Just something I needed to get off my chest. :o
Feel free to beat me senseless. :D
