"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Nice to know I'm not alone... in this life lives:D

Hoof hooves
Roof roofs
wife wives
tooth teeth

woof wooves???

Plural of knife? What's that? I thought we were all one knife for life types here anyway...

I had a knife in my pocket since I was in the fifth grade or so. My high school chemistry teacher always seemed to need a knife but never had one so just borrowed one of ours. My graduating class bought our principal a shotgun and presented to him on stage in the auditorium. Sense was more common then.

Nice gesture! Our Headmaster used to point a shotgun at us and say "Now tell me you don't know!" It worked:D:D:eek:

Heh, I know where you're coming from. Don't forget though that many of the "knifes" lovers on this forum may not speak English natively.

UPDATE: The teacher said not enough kids brought knives, so they're gonna postpone. Meaning, my boy gets to tote his knife in to the third grade again. Somehow I think he's not too upset. :D

Corey, you speak for many of us!

Am I alone, in finding the number of threads where the opening post starts "So..." incredibly irritating?! :grumpy:

I have to confess that I did have one or two teachers who I'd have liked to present a shotgun to!

Well... let me say - as a non-english-mother-tongue some of the english words are not learnt at school by me (like Moose, though I know what it is). But thanks to the forum I got much better in english in general. But also in german we have several plural forms that very irregular.

Thoug we had an english teacher that was up to us that we wrote "knives" and not "knifes" - maybe he was a knife guy, too?! :D

(Just to add: English grammar can be really pretty tough... at least for me)
