"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

I'm sure a few here watch NCIS. Gibbs always has a new folder, Ziva is a knife collector, Tony and McGee usually have a good knife on them. It seems that only tactical knives have ever gotten any love on the show. So, it would stand to reason that one of the characters, at least, potentially Gibbs father, would carry a traditional knife.

The question is, what traditional pattern would Jackson Gibbs carry?

For what its worth, it seems Gibbs is smitten with the Kershaw brand. In a couple episodes you can clearly see 'em.

Jackson Gibbs strikes me as a Barlow fan. Not sure why but if I had to guess, Barlow it is.

Now, did anyone catch CSI (Vegas) last night? Langston (Laurence Fishburne) and Stokes were eating lunch. Langston was using a traditional folder to cut his apple. They even showed him close it and it did so with a nice *snap*.

I ID'd it but I'm not going to give it up just yet. I'll give everyone a chance to Hulu or Google it or if they saw last nights episode, give their answer. It was probably a little more than half way through the show.

I flip to CSI during commercials when Fringe is on. CSI definitely held my interest more last night, especially Laurence Fishburnes chokehold on the "werewolf" pack punk. Very cool. Didn't see the knife used last night though.

Hi,

My youngest Daughter likes to watch NCIS, so I get to see it occasionally. So I've seen the episode with Gibb's Father.

Most small town store owners I know tend to carry something like a Pen or small Stockman. They really don't need a bigger knife. So I'd say either a Pen or maybe a Peanut.

I did,It seemed when he closed it,it had the spring resistance of an auto.
Being a LEO,on the show, that'd be my guess. But,the blade had a clip trapper look to it,there is a chance it was a slipjoint folder
I spied that,though.

At least I'm not the only one that caught it. :p

The blade was a long thin clip point. The handle had bolster on the end with a pronounced curve to it. From what I could see of the blade and the handle I could swear it was a Toothpick.

Best I could grab from the CBS website:

Be verrrry careful handling sharp objects while indulging in drinking. It can lead to getting some good needlework from the doc att he ER. Don't ask me how I know this, but it cost me 8 stitches in my younger day. :o:)

Carl.

Small town store keep, Jackson Gibbs would have a serpentine jack on him. It would just fit.

As for Ziva kicking ass with a peanut, a peanut would be overkill. Personally, I don't think she'd need more than a tuxedo.:D

I wonder what kind of knife he was packin' when he was on Pee Wee's playhouse?

I think Cowboy Curtis would carry a rubber bowie knife but I can't find photographic evidence. I'm fairly certain he liked tin can phones.

MMmmmm Makers Mark!. :D You do know your Kentucky Bourbon my friend... Oh, and some fine cutlery on the table too.
