"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Andy, I'm not even gonna attempt that one!

A waved barlow has to be against the 10 Commandments! Lord, help us!! :p

...the colors are more vivid a few miles away and a bit higher up, but they're on the way...(you can see my best buddy sitting at attention on the porch if you look carefully...)

Man, Elliott, you are back in the sticks! Looks very cozy.

I live in a subdivision, but am fortunate enough to have a creek running behind our backyard. Pics taken from back deck, just now.

Another week or two should be absolutely prime for color here in Missouri.

Thanks, guys.

Jeff, I have a creek behind and down slope from the house about 100 feet or so. It's occasionally dry but it runs quite a bit during much of the year. My back deck faces it much like yours does.

Very nice Elliott! Now, all I want to know now is whether the door down on the right side is the entrance to the underground knife vault. ;)

There's actually two of those doors on that side. One side for the motorcycle (currently indisposed) and the other for the truck.

The entrance to the subterranean vault is guarded by well armed attack elves. (I take good care of them and they take good care of me.)

Elliott,
Nice pictures of yours and Tina's home!

As nice as the home looks, I can tell from first hand experience that its the owners that have made this one special:thumbup:

Thanks guys, your kind words mean a lot. (And Ken, you and Nettie are always welcome back, especially during a "dry" spell.):thumbup:

Dennis, the pellet gun is for annoying the squirrels. ;)

Lots of different trees here, White Oak, White Pine, Red Maple, Sourwood, Tulip Poplar, Rhododendron, Mountain Laurel etc. Might be some oaks or tulip poplar you're looking at. They're pretty tall but several of 'em are still relatively small in diameter at the moment. Others are pretty darn big. I've got a banner crop of acorns this year. My mulch out back is almost entirely covered.

By the way, we've got white squirrels here. You can find images online. They are not albino but a true white squirrel.

And yeah, we're pretty much ready for the monsoons...;)

Jeff, I hope that creek is not Dardenne Creek. That baby gets out of control every few years.

We get a lot of deer here, I get visited by at least a dozen daily, mostly doe and fawns.
Get some nice bucks on occasion, saw a 10 pointer last year out back. Could tell something was coming when the does all got restless.

We've had black bear on the back deck about a half dozen times over the years though none recently since we removed the bird feeders.

Occasionally you'll see red and/or gray fox. Lots of coyotes in the area now and rumors of mountain lion throughout the region though I can't swear to the veracity. (Some reports are very believable though.)

Elliott posted in another thread about "silver dollars I squandered" back in his youth.

Anybody else read comic books when they were younger? I started reading them in the mid '60s, when the modern Spiderman comics started coming out.
I'm quite sure I had, read, and tossed Marvel Comics Spiderman No. 1 (cost a dime at the corner drug store).
I recently heard of a mint original copy of that same comic selling for $10,000! If we only knew . . .

I read 'em but didn't "collect" 'em. Now baseball cards...when I think of what my mother did with mine when I went off to college. Yeah, then there were the silver dollars, mercury dimes, and a whole gamut of childhood mistakes.

I'm amazed I ever made it this far! :p

If we knew... we would all probably be on that A&E show "Hoarders". I'll pass :)

My great aunt Liz, when she lived on her own, would not throw anything away. Her catch phrase was "That will probably be worth something one day"
