"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

I like how the table gets thicker with knives, as the pics progress!
Musta been a fun time!
It was a great night Charlie, .....I started taking photos...the other knives were on the floor..and we said "..put them up on the table..." Sean is a great guy...as is Jenny.
Sean and I have many knife deals...sorry I should say...Sean has left me broken, poor and bewlidered after many knife deals...so its good to see the heathen of a man in the flesh :D

I wonder what kind of knife he was packin' when he was on Pee Wee's playhouse?

I think Cowboy Curtis would carry a rubber bowie knife but I can't find photographic evidence. I'm fairly certain he liked tin can phones.

Made me laugh. HA!

Scott could not have picked a more perfect day,to book a Fall trip.

Vince, That looks like a good day. Nothing like gathering some food. I went to our mountains this weekend and fished for throut. We had good catches and good weather. Was supposed to fish for three days but the freezer was full after two so the last day we went hunting moose instead, close call but no moose onto ground. Man, If this was the life of everyday.

Bosse,
I do not know if I could do it,going out on the boat like that, every day.I come back & I feel as if I'd gone through a ringer. It's fun,but exhausting. We chartered a boat with a pro Capt.,as well,so he parks the boat, just in the right spot, that has everything to do with the "meat haul",as Luciano put it (and we call it that, too, lol)

Speaking of meat hauls. I spoke with my cousin in Corpus Christi last night and he and 3 other friends went fishing in the Laguna Madre and took home 17 redfish and several speckled trout. He let me know it is time for me to go down there. I am trying to see if I can in a couple of weeks.

I saw nightmare last night: A Barlow knife with western tanto point, partial serations, blackcoating and thumbstud  After I woke I had to see that my Dan Burke small Barlow was as it was. Thank God it was :)

Vince, I so want to go fishing with you!

Usually,
We would catch the bass & blues w/ mono, drift fishing. Because of the way they were feeding ,the tide & location, were trolled those with wire line.
Lemme tell you,it's a backbreaker, that way. For most who fish out there, that method is not preferred. But when the bite is off,it may be on,somewhere's else & a good Capt can get you yur fish, knowing where to be & what do do,when yur there

In the shallow bays on the Texas coast, folks can legally use sail lines to catch gamefish. It is an ingenious device. Basically it consists of a sail on a PVC frame with floats that pulls a thick mono-filament line that contains additional floats with up to 30 "drops" that you connect hooks with bait or lures. There are lots of rules and regulations along with tags you have to acquire. past the last float are about 200 or 300 yards or running line that attach to a large spool that can either be cranked in by hand or with a small motor. The advantage of this method is that if your drops happen to come upon a school, then you can hit a jackpot. However, it is a lot of work and some expense. Some of these rigs can cost upwards of $300 or so.
