"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Well that was a busy day at work!

Thanks for the concern, Jack and Scruff. It's all calmed down to usual levels of stormyness for the western isles, snow coming in too. The storm has shifted south so I hope you guys fare ok over the next 24 hours!

Elliot, I'm glad to hear that your darling wee madam is home safe and well and back to ruling your house, give her a scratch behind the ears from me!

Paul

Done lad, and glad you're hanging in there, Paul.

Glad you're OK Paul. It's been very blowy here today, but seems to have calmed down a bit now. Hopefullly me and Scruff can have a quiet pint undisturbed :)

Stay well across the pond folks. And by all that matters, keep the single malts safe! We lost the Syrian Latakia tobacco years ago that is so elegant in a nice English blend. So good fortune on weathering the storms.

Paul, glad all is well. I dare say it got a bit dicey at work. Some of the buildings decided to be peeled by the wind. Thankfully nothing too destructive though.

Just a bit chilly here in Central Wisconsin today. Hope everyone stays safe during the coming winter months.

On a lighter note;

My grandaughter's 1st birthday today :) I'm not seeing her until Monday, but it was nice to be able to toast her in good company :) Cheers for a pleasant afternoon Scruff

She's a doll, Jack. I can't believe it's a year already!

Scruff gave me a tin of this German dark chocolate, laced with coffee and cola yesterday :)

Andi, I think we might have a snuff trade! :D

That chocolate looks great! Love the packaging.

I've only had a couple of pieces as I don't want to be awake all night, but it is delicious Mr V. The tin will definitely get used for something afterwards :)

From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scho-Ka-Kola

Scho-Ka-Kola (for Schokolade–Kaffee–Kolanuss) was created in 1935 by the Hildebrand, Kakao- und Schokoladenfabrik manufacturer, established by chocolatier Theodor Hildebrand (1791-1854) in Alt-Berlin. It was introduced at the 1936 Summer Olympics as a "Sport Chocolate" with stimulating effect. In World War II, it was referred to as "Aviator Chocolate", as it was commonly provided with Luftwaffe rations. During the occupation period it was also distributed to the German population by the Allies.

She's a cutie, her momma is starting her off early!

I had been looking forward to making it to the Chesapeake knife show this Sunday for the entire year, but didn't make it because of the weather. We ended up getting 8" of snow in my area, northwestern Harford county. I heard everything from the show was bad, to the show was just okay. Some dealers didn't make it, and most of the customers that usually show up didn't make it. Getting a few knife deals is not worth an accident on the road, even with my 4wd Silverado, but I do miss seeing my buddies that I only seem to get to hang out with at this show. I have to just bite the bullet and get a hotel room at the show next year. It will probably be 60 degrees and sunny then.

The old pup has going back and forth between teetering on the brink and doing a lot better. He has been sleeping almost right next to the wood stove every night, and I often have to move him and his cot off of the stove! He had a hard time getting around yesterday, but he was able to move around, and nope, decided to blaze his own trail. The ice pack was easier to get around on this morning, but I foresee some issues this winter with mobiility.

Smoke going up for your pup, Dan. It's a hard road for sure.
