"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Got some smoke going up for you're old pup, Dan.

I was going to the show, but when I got out on the road and saw what a mess it was, I just turned around and went home. All kinds of idiots sliding into each other. Did manage to make a large dent in a large bottle of Evan Williams though. I did hear from a friend that he estimated maybe half the dealers didn't show up. I'll be puling for your pup!

Carl.

Smoke from here too for the old pup. It's tough when one day you think they are just too down and the next they're perked up and moving. You just don't know which way to go. Bests to you and yours.

Woke up yesterday feeling like I had either gotten run over by a tractor trailer or gone through the spin cycle on a washing machine, both of which I never want to do. I had gotten a flu shot, but you can still get the flu after getting a flu shot etc etc etc.

After an enjoyable time of chasing a horse through the ice and snow, insert sarcasm here, my keys were not at home after my truck got moved, and by the time I found my spare, my docs appt was over. So, off to the urgent care center. No flu, but possible lyme disease. So, to quote Carl Spackler, I got that going for me, which is nice. I haven't found any bullseye on my body, I had lymes when I was about 17 or 18, tests should be back Monday. My body hurts like heck and I am exhausted like I ran a race. Pressure and the ticker are fine, by the way.

Carl's recent thread "To Make A Fire" reminded me of another great story: http://www.jacklondons.net/buildafire.html. Being a Jack London story, it's set in the Yukon and features brutally cold weather, a good dog, fire, and if you read closely … mention of a knife in a couple places.

Just read your update, Dan - smoke and prayers going up for you.

Very cool, Mark! Thanks for posting! :)

Dan, Yikes! Sounds like no fun. Hope you're just coming down with a bug, and not Lyme again. Smoke in the air for you.

I wonder how many folks around here remember that line? :p

Wonderful picture, Elliott. Looks like she's doing well.
As for the quote...I'm happy to hear it is a quote. I'd hate to have to think you thought that up all on your own.:D;)

Bloody hell mate, that sounds awful! When I got my flu jag the nurse assured me "you cannot get the flu from a flu shot, it is a passive inoculation (no idea what that means). You might however suffer from symptoms of sneezing, blocked nose, swollen glands, sore throat, coughing, headaches, dizziness, tiredness, muscle aches and pains and in fact all the symptoms of flu. But really, it isn't flu".

What's the point.

My sympathies.

Liam, my best man is arriving from the mainland tonight. This weekend is my stag do. I have no idea what is in store, but my Chief Inspector mentioned to me during the week that he had better not walk into the station on Monday morning and find me in a cell. Gulp.

Have a good weekend everyone!

... I know you don't need us to tell you she's beautiful, Elliott. Thanks for posting another picture.

(I'd mention the interesting "rorschach" effect in a certain area, but that would suggest I was looking.)

Meanwhile, I'm guessing my people will not consider the Christmas tree done, although I can't imagine what would make it better....

Have a great time, but not TOO much of a good time ;)...

Thanks, Gary. She needs to put a couple pounds back on. You can see where her leg was shaved for the IV.

The quote was from a character that Mike Myers played on Saturday Night Live some years ago. (Sarah can obviously remember it quite well. :p)

Sarah, tree looks just about right to me. I tried to get away with no tree this year using the dog's proclivities as an excuse but Tina wasn't having it.

I remember it quite well, also, bubbles in the tub and all :D . Glad to see your pup is doing better, Elliott(I can never remember if it is 2 T's or not[Elliott is my moms maiden name])

Just like your mom's. Thanks, Kris.

Wow, just caught a Blue Jay(not the more common Stellers Jay or Western Scrub Jay) at the feeder, pretty rare for around here. He was too big for the feeder and moved on.
