"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Guys and Gals, I'm moving house. Not far, just to a different house in the same village. I'll be sporadic in my attendance here, just so you are aware.

I hope everyone is doing well!

Paul

How far along is your wife now, Paul? You're a brave man to attempt a move with a pregnant lady! :D

I hope the transition goes smoothly for you and yours, and you get settled in nicely in time for the wee Pmew to arrive!

Well my wonderful cat developed a Feline Urinary Tract Infection (FUTI) and I was up all night with my little honey. Discovered it after 5 pm and was quite worried. I started her on some dilute apple cider vinegar both orally and in some wet food every couple of hours and she was able to urinate a little. Immediately took her off dry food. Come this morning we went to the Veterinarian and got her on some antibiotics. She is chipper now and I am so relieved and so is my wallet, but that is what love is all about!. She was a catch and release cat I took in some time back and has been a joy. She is not out of the woods yet but she is on her way.

What to look for:
Keep an eye on them when they potty and the little signs and you will catch it early. In males the problem can get quite bad very quickly with an total obstruction. In females in is less likely but can happen. She was squatting to go a bunch of times in front of me and I took notice. Not much was coming out. I then put her in the tub and saw a bit of blood in the small amount of urine. I knew quickly it was probably a bladder infection.

Hope all your animals are healthy and frisky!!

Glad your kitteh is feeling better, Gev.

My boy-cat had some kidney problems a few months ago, and I've also taken him off of dry food. I guess kibble isn't something they would find in the wild, so it's not really natural for them to eat.

Happy cats at play:

"moving house" is a euphemism for "finding out who your real friends are".
Unfortunately, many of your real friends are located far away, but at least you will identify your local real friends. Hope all goes well with that.

Meanwhile, It's all Meako's fault.

He said, "I call it Percival".
Gad. flashing into my head comes a line from an Ogden Nash poem, "The Tale of Custard the Dragon". Had to go find it on the net and read it.

I've always had a thing for Ogden Nash poems.

I've just put in 4 hours humping boxes and furniture for a friend moving house. Hoping my back isn't shot!

I joined a small group helping a friend move. After loading boxes and furniture, we drove to the new place.

On the way I bought a six pack of Anchor Porter.

They all enjoyed the beers.

Only one of them got the pun.

Many years ago, we had a friend that was moving and he'd begged us to help. We all had reluctantly agreed because he was a friend after all.

Well, the bunch of us met at the local watering hole for a few beers and talked it over, and came t the conclusion we really hate helping with moving. So, we did the next best thing.

The morning we were supposed to show up at 9AM, nobody showed up. But at 9.20 AM a moving van showed up, and the friend that was moving told the driver that he was supposed to have some friends helping him. The driver laughed, and said he didn't know anything about friends, but a bunch of guys paid him and his two helpers to move the household. The move went off without a hitch, a lot smoother than a bunch of amateurs could have done it, and we all brought over a cooler of cold brewski's and a portable grill and cooked up some hot dogs and burgers.

It was a lot better that way.

Thought I'd share the view from the porch of my meager accommodation, getting up into the mountains or trekking around the lake is a great way to spend the weekend. :)

Great story Carl  I must say I have sometimes spent 10 minutes trying to get a large item of furniture through a doorway, when you know the professionals would take it straight out! :D I have been thinking about moving myself these past couple of years, and a big part of why I haven't is the thought of the move itself

Fantastic shot Robert, thanks for sharing it with us, what a lovely place to live :)

My buddy and I spent about ten minutes fighting a sofa through a doorway, I know the feeling Jack!

This move was really last minute and Claire and I couldn't miss the opportunity so just went for it.
We're about half way through the process now and still have the keys to the old place for most of November. Poor Claire is now heavily pregnant and is finding it very frustrating that she can't pitch in with the lugging of boxes and furniture. She is the kind of woman who has to be doing. So she makes constant lists for me; furniture in specific order into specific rooms. Rooms that need painted before x and y go into them. Go to the hardware shop an get a, b and c so that you can build such and such for the utility room. Etc etc LOL. It's quite a testing process.

Oh and I'll be without croft for a wee while :(

But I'll be occupied by Baby so it'll be alright. Babies eat grass don't they??

I was in the exact position when my eldest was on the way thirty years ago Paul. Hope you've got a nice place, and that you manage everything :)

Jack

PS Babies eat just about ANYTHING! :D

Thank goodness, that's a relief to hear because I've got a big lawn at the new place that I need to keep down. I'll just pop it out with the dogs and it can munch away ;)

By the way Jack, it's the same address but now number 5A.
