All the best, my friend! :)

My wife and I found out we are having a girl! I am pretty excited.

My wife took this pic on Sunday, she and Cleo hiked to the top of the ridge, at 4 months pregnant. Over looking Butte, Pintlar Wilderness in the far back

Congratulations, Kris! You've got many joyous years ahead! My best to you and your wife!
Great pictures too!

Congrats Kris! Kids change you for the better. I have two boys 4 and a 7 month old. So I'm in Andi! I will have to get a pic of the two knife included next time moms not home. :)

Nice to see you post Kris! Especially with such wonderful news and awesome photographs! Looks like you all had a great day. Congratulations!!!

My wife and I are off on an adventure soon, a scuba trip to Costa Rica. This will be my first time diving the Pacific Ocean, I can hardly wait to see what new species of sea life we will be treated to.

A GEC #12 Powderhorn Jack fits very well in a baby´s hand ... taken a lot of months ago ;)

I haven´t tried it with the diaper bag, but there might fit a lot of EDC items in it... especially slipjoints and sharping stones.

Hm... I gonna give it a try when I my wife isn´t at home :p

Meako tip #2 buy the lady the latest new diaper bag and then "get rid of " the old one for her.;)
disclaimer -this may not work if they are particularly attached to the old diaper bag for instance if it was given by an elderly female relative or friend. If that is the case use the new one yourself and avoid "that look" they give us for being simpletons.:D
Andi that is a wonderful picture of your young lad Max. His frowny face makes me think he is dreaming. Possibly about why his Dad gave him a toothpick to hold when he doesn't have any teeth yet?:D it's either that or wind.

All the best, my friend! :)
Thank you, Andi.

Congratulations Kris. It's never too early to start building her first car!

Thanks Mark, it will definitely be a Volvo!

That is a gorgeous Husky!
congrats on the upcoming family addition, too. ;)

Thanks, they are both Alaskan Malamutes.

Congrats Kris, I know you are both tickled

Thank you much, Jerry.

Congrats Kris! Kids change you for the better

Thanks Gabe, I am looking forward to the change.

Thank you friend, Costa Rica is such a beautiful place, have a blast!

Ah - I almost said Malamute, but wasn't sure. I've got a Mal/Sibe X and he's a hoot -- when I can keep him in the yard...
makes a great bushbuddy, though -- patrols camp periodically through the night and sleeps about 10 feet from my hammock.

I came to this idea after taking a nap after classes and kept everything in my pockets. in my pockets were my keys and squirt, some chapstick, my zippo, electrical tape, my dear peanut and a wallet and rag in my back pocket. All of these things in my pocket I cant imagine going outside without. To do so would just cause mass panic and confusion to me  !!! Everything is small enough and sturdy enough that even if I am rolling around while sleeping, I don't worry about everything scuffing up against one another or damaging the other objects. I like to carry other stuff now and then and have more in my jacket pockets, but those are what I call luxuries.

In short, the anything essential to my daily function, I would be comfortable enough to sleep with! Anything else would come out of the pockets.

My question to my fellow minimalist is what is your philosophy for pocket knife and general carry? What do you keep with you that you would feel naked without? What kind of traditional fits your preference? I know we all have some fancy knives we like to fondle, but what is the knife that truly fits your needs? Pictures are welcome to go with your thoughts. A soon as I can take one, the first thing to be done will be put it on here! Can't wait to hear!

I hope this can stay focused on traditionals enough to stay in this forum. Perhaps the mods can help you by adding "traditional" to the subject line? It's a great idea IMO and a topic that lurks in between the lines in many threads.

This is an old but still typical pocket dump.

Pocket Dump by Pinnah, on Flickr

LFP: Micra and money clip (engraved with "The root of all evil")
RFP: Loose change and my edc TRADITIONAL knife. Usually an Opinel. Sometimes a Buck 500. Today, a Buck 112.
LRP: My old school cell phone (I stitch my pocket vertically to make a stand up pocket)
RRP: Bandana
Right tool pocket: Reading glasses. If I'm dressed, I have this with me.

As a backpacker, I get nervous not having a day pack of some sort in it. I won't do a full dump on the contents of my "man purse" but I carry a full sized MT there along with a DMT credit card sharpening stone.

One thing that my system gives me is the freedom to change knives. This one has been getting a lot of pocket time lately.

Really this is all I need everyday. My grandad told me a man should alway have a sharp knife and something to write with. In my case I add a pair of nail clippers to that list.
This stuff ( I rotate through my knives) is always in my pocket, napping or not.

Peace
JustDave

Edit: The BSA Stone sheath is my wallet

While I used to have a bunch of "EDC" items many moons ago and can see the use and fun of it, as I got to my 30's I became more minimalist. Money in one pocket and keys in the other. I used to love cars that had one key for the door, trunk, and ignition to keep my keychain light. I'm pushing 60 pretty hard now and everyone has laid claim to keychain real estate. Cars have fobs, stores have fobs....

"Now sir, we need your address and phone number and you attach this bar code to your keychain."
"No, wait, I've got this crazy idea. See, I've got this money here. And I just give it to you and I take the shampoo."

So now I've got this girl keychain I've given up on.

Pinnah, my cell phone is way more old school than that. A Nokia known as my Flintstone phone by my co-workers. At work it's in my lunchbag. I guess my lunchbag is my man purse. I've got all sorts of stuff hanging from it by carabiners.

Knife? At some point in life I decided to carry sumpin sharp again. Did the normal evolution from tactical to traditional. I prefer a simple, single blade but usually carry whatever my latest toy is.

Pocket dumps have been considered off topic here or a long time. The What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today? thread is here for your Traditional EDC knife carry. I'll put this in the lounge.
