Beautiful kites leghog, and a great back story. I am a kite flyer and builder, and had great interest in your post about these magnificent specimens. I find it amazing that similar design kites come from all corners of the world, especially these fighter kites, they can be quite nimble I have read. Thanks for sharing these with us :)

I wish I could throw a steak on the grill today ......

Yeah, that might be a little hard to do, but for a Good Steak it might be worth the fight!

Yeah, fire on your down jacket, pour a generous Islay, brush the snow off and get torn in! - maybe go back inside to eat it though. :)

Two hours shoveling a path to grill, 15 min. cleaning off grill and getting it lit and thawed out, 14-16 min. to grill steak...hmmm Go for it!!!
I feel for you folks that are buried right now...Just how deep is that snow Gary?

That's a drift a little shy of 3.5'. We're at 89" for the season so far in Syracuse, NY. Our average is 124" for the season. It's not the snow that's the problem this year, it's the cold. I think we're working on the coldest February since they started recording temperatures.

I just came in from snow blowing the driveway for an hour. It's 5 degrees F with a 23 MPH wind. That computes to a -17 F wind chill. Gotta dress warm for sure.

I know there's many places and folks that are in worse shape. I feel bad for them. At least we're prepared for it in this part of the country.

Stay warm and safe, Gary. 50 degrees today with the shop doors open, the exact opposite for what it should be this time of year. We need the snow or we will have a terrible fire season.

My wife just started a new project in Boston, and the snow is so bad that she works on the second floor and the snow is up to the windows.

Oh . . . and they're supposed to get more this weekend! :(

Yup. Welcome to my special winter hell. It just won't stop here in the Boston area. We had white out conditions for a while earlier today. More weather to run right through the whole weekend.

This is a pic of 10' of snow in my front yard. We've gotten more here in Boston since I took this one last week.

Uummm, Listen BB, I don't know if this is a help, but if you go to youtube, you can get the old Sargent Preston Of The Yukon episodes.

"On King, on you huskies!"

So much for Global Warming..huh Bob and Gary! Stay safe!

Gary, I think I would just stick to cast iron on the stove:thumbup:

The warming is apparently asymmetrical. Our side of the continent has been exceptionally hot and dry.

The atmosphere will always be chaotic, perhaps even more so if global warming is indeed occurring. I believe that the oceans, which absorb way more of the suns radiation, are the true indicators of what is going on...

and if you'd seen these two old clowns trying to get their boat on to their trailer at Wollongong boat ramp a couple of weeks ago in a fairly solid chop running into the small harbour on an incoming tide -you also would have asked the question "what exactly is going on in the ocean?".
big expensive boat-check
big expensive ute-check
engine running-check
chomping up sand on the bottom-check
trailer afloat each time a wave came in-check
damage to front of boat where it hit the trailer crank handle-check
head between trailer crank handle and erratically moving large boat-check
no idea what to do -check
get out of console and got to front of boat whilst all this is going on -check

decide its too dodgy, back out and moor the craft till later-

check:D
should have videoed it for Australias funniest home accidents? failed

Some of the best of times are sitting at the top of a boat ramp at the end of a day and watching the fun. I've owned boats for many years and seen it all when it comes to boat ramp follies. :D
