"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Good to hear Phillll, congratulations again my friend

His first name is Noah. We still haven't come up with a good middle name. I wanted it to be Butch but mom vetoed that one. Maybe he will just go without a middle name.

Sorry, I got excited. Evan did say didn't he. Noah is an excellent name. I have a second cousin called Noah and he is a superb young man :)

I wanted to give my second daughter Ellie, the middle name May, after Ellie-May Clampett, but her mum wouldn't have it! She often asks me why she was in fact given the second name Louise, and I tell her to ask her mother because I have no idea! When the next one came along, it took us so long to think of Daisy as a first name, we never got beyond that! :o

Claire and I couldn't agree on a middle name so poor Rory ended up with two!

Then he will be in my esteemed fraternity of the no middle namers.:)
Congratulations Phil-not much sounds better than mother and baby doing well and on their way home:thumbup:
I think I'm lucky not to have a middle name in some ways- I remember a kid at school with middle the name Buckingham. Didn't he cop some flak.
A work colleague has Nelson (snicker) as a middle name and a good mate of mine has Maitland as a middle name.
Mind you -those pale into insignificance alongside Carney. That was what a young bloke from my work was going to name his recently born new son. CARNEY?? we had to tell him not to . The guy had never heard of carnys -there is also the double penalty of Todd Carney the bad boy of NRL (rugby league) also known as "the bubbler" due to his penchant for drinking from his own personal fountain.YUK.
So no we said do not call that innocent little baby Carney. Thankfully he saw reason.:)

Glad to hear mother and son are doing well, Phil.

Congratulations!

Fantastic photographs, Jack! I really enjoyed the show and I bet you had a marvelous time...wow!

Philll, congratulations ...old man;):D I wish your family all the best!

Phil, congratulations! Fantastic news indeed.

Jack, thanks for the splendid photoessay. As always, you made me feel I was there--especially in the photo of the funicular. It took my breath away and made me feel queasy both at the same time.:D

That's not a bad solution, then he can kind of choose I guess :) Or pass himself off as a toff! :D

LOL! Poor lad! :D Aye, there's also something to be said for not having a middle name as they often belong to old relatives and suchlike

When my Uncle Alec was born back before WW2, my grandparents were struggling to think of a name, and my grandfather broached the subject with the doctor who delivering him, asking him if they might name the lad after him. The doctor suggested they might want to think again as he had been named Claude Oswald! :D

Thanks Robb, you should see the precipitous flight of worn steps close to the funicular! That photo is actually from Scarborough, another old seaside resort, further down the coast from Whitby :) Some info on the Scarborough funiculars here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scarborough_funiculars

Looks like you had a nice scenic holiday, Jack! Thanks for sharing a bit of it!!

Congrats, Philllll!
Hope Mom and Babe (and Pops) are healthy and Happy!

Jack - Thanks for the free photo tour, priceless actually. Well done!

Phil - Congratulations!!! Be careful with the middle names. Mt stepdaughters have middle names they're not very happy about. One is named after a baseball player, the other after a stock car driver! Hmmm.
