Anyone heard from Gus? How is he doing after his cataract procedure?

We miss you, Goat Herder!!

Is it me or does Gus look a lot younger after this so called cataract procedure?

I have a feeling he went in for a little lift here and tuck there. I'm just sayin'...

(Yeah, I know it's ram's horn but I liked the image. So sue me. ;))

haha nice one E! That made my day...and i burst out laughing at work, theyll think im enjoying myself and give me more work! :o

Whereabouts were you stationed? There is a NAS in Corpus near where my cousin, a former Marine, lives. The island across from Corpus is North Padre Island. He and I grew up further south in Brownsville which is 20 miles away from the beautiful South Padre Island.

Flounder is one of our favorite fish to eat. Mmmm, stuffed flounder sounds good about now.

I was stationed up at Fort Sam Houston, in San Antonio. Weekend trips down to Padre Island were a frequent thing, and Karen was born and raised in Harlingen, down by the border. If we wern't taking off to Padre for the weekend, and camping out on the beach, then we headed up to Canyon lake an hour north of San Antonio, where the army had a recreation area on the lake. Great bass fishing on those Texas lakes are a large part of my memories of the lone star state. It's funny, but Karen and I were talking not too long ago, reminising about the 'early days' of our life in Texas, and we even talked semi-serious about retiring to Texas just for yuks. Probably never really do it, I think.

Carl.

 What's the deal with those ears! They look really out of place!

Well, you know how when one sense doesn't work right the others take over?
I guess when Gus' eyes started going bad his ears tried to compensate. :p

We are headed down to Fort Hood in a few days to see our boy off to Iraq- 5th deployment. My dad was born in that area also; it is an interesting part of the world.

Sorry brother...I'll stand you a pint when you get back over here. ;)

Small world. My parents currently reside in Harlingen. I know where Canyon Lake is. I have fished the Guadalupe River below the dam for rainbow trout. Sure they are stocked but it is the only place in Texas where one can likely find them year round due to the cold water coming from the bottom of Canyon Lake. Here I am removing one of the first I caught there on the fly rod.

You could always do what other folks do and become a Winter Texan, a.k.a. "snowbird" and reside down here during those cold winters y'all get up there. On behalf of all Texans, I officially invite you and you are welcome to come any time! :)

I like the new forum format. Colorful and feature rich. Kinda tough to navigate at first because it's not what I'm used to, but, after a while of using it it'll be just fine. Thanks to Spark (and Mods) for staying on top of updates and making this a great place to play.:thumbup:

Thanks, Kerry. Spark has put in a lot of hours and frustration trying to get this latest update nailed down.
We all appreciate your kind words and your contributions toward making this the great place it is.

Thank you everyone. All is going great. Now can not wait to get the other eye done. Slinging dogs today without my coke bottled glasses. Amazing organ the eye and how it can heal so quickly.

That IS good news, Gus. And BTW, the eye is one of my 3 most favorite organs. :D

These dang super powers can be both helpful and annoying, but I think the helpful part outweighs the annoying part, so, it's ok. "Annoying" is MY super power, but it's a "playful annoying" as opposed to yer basic "PITA annoying". That's probably just the way I look at it though, which is somewhat akin to BO. We oftimes are way too late smelling our own BO. Enter, the daily shower...but alas, I digress, which is another one of my super powers. :)
