Thanks for all the fantastic photos Chris, what a place :)

When I was in college my girlfriend at the time and I collected all of our change for the year in a big glass jar. At the end of the school year we cashed it in and paid for a trip to Canada. We were 19 at the time, so one of the thrills was being able to legally buy alcohol. One of the disappointments was finding out all of the bars in the town we stayed in only sold Molson. Such is life, you have your ups and downs. :p

Happy memories :)

Don't feel lonely. Grin.

Thanks Cate :D

Someone at work was going around all week drumming up Powerball contributions, to 'increase our odds.'

My approach to Y2K was to make friends with people who cared, ie, who had wells and generators and knew how to make vegetables and stuff.

My approach to lotteries is similar-- stay close to those who Play, or at least, don't tick 'em off on purpose. ;)

The old General stores are disappearing rapidly these days. You can still find them scattered around the south but they are few and far between. We are lucky to have a couple in our area. Mast General Store has several stores in cities and towns across the area I live in. They are some what a modern version of the ones from day's gone by but are decorated in a way that you feel you have stepped back in time with a wide array of products for sale. Then there is Gossett Groceries a few miles from my house. From the outside they look like a convenience store but inside you will not only groceries but all of the products that you would expect to find in a general store including a good assortment of knives and in particular Case knives. I have found several discontinued old new stock there.

Washburn's near Bostic, NC is as close to a working store (not quite so touristy) as I remember. If you're close enough, it's worth a stop. Five generations, since 1831.

Dude. Seriously:

I like others I'm sure went to the Sword forum to see what was going on and thought I was reading some kind of intergalactic space language. I evidently know less than nothing about swords. So how about those Stockman's and Trappers. In other words can we just please move on.

Agreed. Who doesn't like a good Gunstock Jack? :)

Bye Raymond!!

I love stockmans. Specifically 3.5" closed. I recently got a nice stag Northwoods from the Shirley era with the D2 blades. I've yet to carry it yet because the edges need some attention. Just haven't put my free time toward it yet.

man what a lousy saturday, rain on and off expected for the day :/ at least i have a knife due in today :). hows it going for you guys/gals?

Not raining today sun's out but it's cold, however it's supposed to snow tonight and tomorrow. I'm sitting here drinking coffee, on the laptop and sharpening some knives in between. Guess you could say I'm just being lazy.

scratch the rain for now, sun perked out! and yes, some knife sharpening time for me as well, i let that hen and rooster snap close and the blade hit the spring again :grumpy:

It's turned cold here, though not unseasonably so, and at least it's not raining, for once, today

Hey Jack I have a good friend from Birmingham how far is that from you? He has lived here for many years and recently got his US citizenship. I've known him at least 25 yrs.
