"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

I texted a Scots pal of mine earlier, and he'd completely forgotten it was Burn's Night! He said he'd just got back from having a curry. So, an Indian Burn's Night! :D

I only have a bit of Scottish ancestry, and I won't be partaking in any haggis, but I never turn down an opportunity to celebrate with one of Scotland's finest exports. :D

This, my friend, is why we need a "groaning" smiley. :D

I have no Scottish ancestry, and I don't even really like haggis, but that whisky is a whole different story. Sippin' gold!

Good to see you back on The Porch, even if briefly, Keith! Looking forward to seeing some of your Southern knives.
You seem like a pretty clever operator, finding work in Alabama in January! That's gotta be way warmer than working outside in "The Region" during the winter! :D

I hope I never have to taste haggis, but I tasted natto and survived. Deep fried natto was marginally less hideous.

That's the good stuff right there!

I've never tried haggis but I've had Scrapple. All of the pork leftovers (trimmings, organs, brains even) are boiled down with seasonings and cornmeal and allowed to congeal into a loaf. Then it's sliced and fried. I stress that I've tried it lol. Not my favorite thing to eat with eggs in the morning but I had to give it a shot.

These "dishes" are the kind of thing that make people believe that the people that come up with them are extremely, to put it in its mildest possible terms, frugal.

One wonders what their dogs eat. I mean, what could possibly be left for them after the people get done using all the scraps?
