"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Duncan, you are welcome but I'm just trying to play catch up to you my friend:thumbup: Your generosity on the porch is LEGENDARY!!! I never really heard the expression Legend/Legendary prior to coming to the Traditional form. When I first heard it, it was used by you describing someone's generosity. I always associate that phrase with you Duncan not only because of your use of the word but because of your kindness towards so many here:thumbup:

Bob and Phil, Thank you both as you two are Legends here on the porch, I always appreciate your posts and how you compliment others:cool:

Frank, Thank you for the earlier birthday wish and your efforts keeping order amongst us here:thumbup:

Robert, prayers from ND, for you and your daughter...

Well now my daughter needs another prescription to work with the carbatrol...I don't know how this week could get any worse. I'm sitting in the hospital right now holding her hand and just praying I can figure this all out. Medical bills are insanely expensive...I don't know how anyone does it. I'll be off for a while. Gotta try and drum up some money for more medication.

Robert, I hope she gets well soon!

I stopped at Wegman's last night to pick up the kielbasa for Easter dinner. I stopped in the kosher/International aisle for latke mix, so we could make Lithuanian blinis for Easter breakfast (with sour cream and tomato of course).

I decided to take a gander at what the Ireland/England/British aisles section (about two yards long) offered. There it was, the dreaded Vegemite. At 7.99 for a small container  . I was scolded by a friend across the pond on Facebook that Vegemite is primarily from Australia/New Zealand, I didn't stock the shelves! I saw some things that didn't look too appetizing, but I'm guessing not everyone likes kielbasa either (good more for me).

My search for Korean sweet sauce in the Asian aisle came up empty. I did find about five bulgogi sauces I want to try. When the bulgogi stall at the mall doesn't let you put the sweet sauce on yourself anymore (not actually on my person, on my food ;)), you know you've found something good.

Trying to be good on Good Friday, excuse me talking about all this good food.

Except for Vegemite...

Paul - As usual I am a Day or 2 late and a dollar or 2 or 3 short!
But I want to send you my late wishes for a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You are truly one of the good guys!:D

RobertJ1 - My prayers are with you and your daughter for a speedy recovery!

I was panicking...

This edit is not because it was moved. Just rethought the post.

Paul,
please add my (late) wishes for your birthday to the list
Not sure how the weather is in the US, but here in the Mediterranean we're seeing glances of early spring. Night temperatures are still low, but days have been sunny and warmish lately, so this morning I decided to breathe some fresh air and walk near the sea. Not too far from where I live is the Argentiera:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentiera

The place is basically desert during winter (in summer, the beaches attract visitors, and the whole place sees some life in general). I wasn't willing to spend much time in the old mining town (although it's an interesting place for sure), and instead parked my car and headed north. I had a new backpack to try, a couple knives in my pockets, my camera, a snack, but mostly I was in the mood for a walk among the Mediterranean bush breathing some salty air. The original plan was actually venturing way further, but in the end I woke up quite late so I changed plans and took it with a more relaxed pace. A few pictures for you folks (the Liz Taylor fans might recognize the scenery, since one of her movies was shot in this area).

Some ruins are literally swallowed by nature:

A path up the hill lead me to a better view:

A long walk took me to a nice beach (pretty hard to access, unless with climbing equipment or by sea - I just took some pictures from above the clifffs):

Happy Easter folks!

Fausto Just beautiful thank you for posting.

Robert I haven't been on much lately but prayers for your daughter, you and your family.

Thank you Randy. I did receive the congress. Thank you again...I like how you threw in your two cents too haha.

Robert I'm glad you received it. It's actually a great little knife I'm just not very much of a fan of the Congress pattern. But at the same time I like a lot of patterns that other folks are not that fond of. Hope you enjoy it and find one that you just fall in love with.

Horrified by the children who were killed in Lahor, on this Easter day. Shame on those insane killers.

Hope everyone had a nice Easter. Our kids and their families came over for dinner and it totaled up to 24 people. You just don't realize how much you have multiplied until everybody gets together. I usually use my Buck 119 to carve meats for the family meal but since I gave it away in Bob's GAW I had to go buy a new Mora to do the job. Man I hate to have to buy new knives. :applouse::D:wink:
