"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Morning all,

There are a number of people who I need to reply to - especially those (Jack, Ken and Will) who sent me packages. I'm sorry I've not had the chance; Claire has been admitted to hospital. She's at 34 weeks and was experiencing a lot of pain and reduced movement from baby. They're not yet sure what's going on so we're all a little worried. Good news is that everything looked OK on the ultrasound but baby is smaller than it should be. I will be in touch with those who merit it in due course when things return to normal. In the mean time I'll suffice to say that this forum is full of the most wonderful and generous people. God bless you all.

Paul

Paul Prayers for Claire the baby and you my friend. Our "Porch Family" may be separated by miles and oceans but God is everywhere and he both hears and answers our prayers for each other.

Paul i hope everything is ok, all our thoughts to your Wife, yourself and your lovely wee baby, smalls ok, at least they didnt find anything untoward going on my friend.

Paul, well wishes from North Dakota my friend. Positive thoughts for you, Claire, Rory and baby.

Paul, hope all goes well my friend, thinking of you all

Paul, same as other friends here, hope everything will turn out well and you give us good news.

I recently sent a Case knife to Europe from the US. It took about 2.5 weeks. It was not held up in outgoing customs in the US, but did get held up in inbound customs at the destination, but just for a day or so.

Mine went out through Miami, Florida. It seemed to bounce around in Miami for several days between different facilities, but I think the longest actual delay was 3 days going from a regular post office hub to the international hub, and then the progress was "dark" for about a week until it arrived at the final destination.

It was not a sale but a gift, and marked as such, so perhaps different rules apply.
Gift on the green paper does not mean much in fact. Things customs differ from one country to another, even if in the UE. Also sometime the tracking goes berserk (or is it the computers behind?) and indications given mean absolutely nothing serious. I rememember a watch I sent to England that went in fact in Germany before reaching the right destination. Or think quoted as delivered that are not yet (amazingly it happens mainly on saturdays). But finally all things arrive safe and sound.
Even when goods do not meet EU requirements (in 2 languages!) they slip through customs. So Will I hope you'll get your fixed (or is it a new one) very soon and curious to see the picture. :)

No link with the subjects above, yesterday Ireland has written off NZ's continuous record of successes (18 victories in a row). And they did it the hard way , 40 - 29. It happened in Chicago. This heralds hard times for the next Tests and Tournament...

Paul, I'm hoping, and praying, that all goes well for you and your family in this pregnancy complication.

Unfortunately, you're right. I'm far from the trouble zone, but I have friends there, they're all fine but some of them are dealing with harsh times. Thank you for your thoughts.

Best wishes to you and the Missus, Paul! I hope all turns out well!

My wife Ann got out of the hospital this afternoon and is doing great. I would like to thank all of you for your support during this time. The folks that hang out on the porch are the absolute best bar none.

Thanks for the update, Randy; that's marvelous news!!:thumbup:
I hope her recovery/rehab exceeds all expectations (and that you can get a little R&R yourself now and then).
