Do you have a spreadsheet or a database to keep track of your knives Barrett ?? I have been thinking about getting a database to use , but I sometime procrastinate.
Harry
Just got in from the hospital and my wife's surgery went well. She will be in the intensive care unit tonight but hopefully go to a step down unit tomorrow. I would like to say thank you for your well wishes and support. I'll be going back to the hospital early tomorrow morning so I think I'll call it a day now.

Harry, it's just an Excel spreadsheet. I don't have much experience with databases (and don't know of a good database program for Mac). I set up a tab for each brand/maker, then each knife gets two columns headed with a name/description for the knife (for example, "Tidioute #15 Boy's Knife/Crown Lifter, Ebony") and including the following data fields: Date Purchased, Purchased From, Purchase Price, Pattern #, Closed Length, Handle Material, Blade Steel, Year Produced, Notes and Images. Two photos for each knife (one with the blades closed, one with them open), formatted to fit the columns. I'll add a couple fields for any knife that I've sold or given away so that I have those details noted. Then I have an index tab with all the knives listed and linked to their entry on the brand/maker tabs.
It's not a perfect system, but it's what I came up with and it works well enough. I'm sure there's probably some database software out there designed for collectors that would be perfect for this, but that would probably cost money, and this was free.![]()

Same here Jack. I have recently been using imgur.com and so far I have had no issues.I upgraded my Photobucket account a few months back. I'm now spared the constant pop-ups, but apart from that, I get the same derisory service as before :grumpy: I've tried a few other similar services, but haven't got on with them. I used to use Imageshack years ago, but after they ceased to be free, they reneged on their promise to continue to host already uploaded pics. I'm glad I don't have to rely on any of these services for business![]()
