"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

thank you for the update Randy, Im saddened to hear that he is not well. Ive most recently spoken to Bob what must've been a few weeks ago. He has always been and continues to be an upstanding member of the porch. Bigbiscuit get well soon, bounce back buddy, you've done it before!

Shaken to hear this about BB. Smoke Up for Him and All the Family including here on the Porch as I'm sure others are shaking as I am with this news

My recent communication with Bob was when he very kindly sent me a fine Winchester (not the rifle unfortunately:D)beautiful Bison leather sheath and a silver half-dollar (much appreciated as I'm keen on coins of the world but esp USA) He's a very polite man, tranquil, brave and yet he's got a keen and amusing sense of humour. Fine taste in knives and I believe a keen fisherman too:thumbsup: He has the quality of a gentleman, an enviable quality too.

Bob, as a Survivor I understand some of what you've been through. Whatever a person's moral or ethical beliefs, the greatest thing we can do is to show compassion, empathy and altruism. Not to obstruct anyone's path to knowledge with our own dogmas, each man treads his own path with his own light, mindfully. I send the power of my thoughts and hopes, my respect and affection to you and your family.

Your friend, Will

Thank you for the update, Randy.

Bob, I wish you and your family comfort during this difficult time.

Randy, trying not to believe that news about Bob, even though we know it might eventually come. Besides the personal issue of Bob himself having to go through that, the loved ones that will be left behind have so much pain and emptiness to deal with.

I prefer to just think happy thoughts, say some prayers for Bob and his family, and try to stay positive.

Bob, my family's prayer for you and your family is for God's peace and comfort be with you all, in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. -James

This is Nyla the newest member of our family we got her yesterday day She is a mixed breed we got from the shelter. She's a very sweet pup but man she's full of energy.

I would like to thank all my friends and family here on the Porch for all the kindness, thoughts, prayers, support and love you have shown me during my stay here. My health really took a fast turn for the worse several weeks ago. My doctors have been able to stabilize things on a temporary basis, but there's not a lot they can do for me now. I fear my battle is coming to an end sooner than I had hoped. My grandson has another year left of high school after this year. I really wanted to see him graduate.
We are in a wait and see mode for a little while regarding hospice care, but we know that's coming soon so we're researching that. I am in constant pain and extremely weak all the time now. Hence my absence here recently. Just know that the friendships I've made here bring me so much comfort and contentment each and every day. I love all of you.
I'm ready for the next chapter, but I ask that you think and pray for my family. They are really doing a great job taking care of me. I will try to pop in from time to time when I'm up to it. I may be passing on some good deals on some of my knives soon. I won't be needing them as I travel to my new destination.
Thank you again for everything. Much love to all. :(:)

Prayers offered up for you and your family Bob. I dont have the words to tell you how sorry i am for your pain and struggles. I wish you only the best sir. God bless you.

Bob, I just dont know what to say, but I consider you my friend, and I know that other close friends to me here on the forums have really enjoyed doing a few give-aways and fund raising efforts to try and support you, Bob it's just like the song says...." I see friends shaking Hands..... saying how do you do...... their really saying I love you" and thats what we do Bob - we love ya to bits, and I am pleased that we got to know you.
What would be extremely great would be that you pass on a few good knives to your Grandson- and get the lad to join Traditionals here- let us know who he is so we can take him under our Wing and get to know him, help him and in turn he will most probably end up helping us.
Dont put up your knives too cheap Bob- those of us who know you will be only too pleased to buy your knives, because through them- it doesnt matter where you are- you'll be with us.
Theres something out there Bob, we are all going to find it, and when someone is a good person who cares for others- Im thinking they will find that good spot.

I will ring you very soon my friend.
Duncan

A lot of significant life events have been shared here and I feel they each deserve their own reply. Please indulge me a few posts in a row.

@supratentorial I'm so sorry to hear that your beloved bloodhound is ailing. In the mean time, I wanted to let you know how heart warming I found the story of your driving across multiple states to adopt her.

I hope that you hear good news tomorrow and you and your family (of which I most definitely include her) will be in my prayers.

Randy, thank you for catching us up on Bob and, Bob, it was really nice to see you checking in here yourself.

Bob, I only know you through my observations and a couple of brief interactions with you here on the Porch, but, without a doubt, I can say that I'm a better person for that and have been inspired by your constantly gracious and generous attitude. I will be praying for you, your family, and especially your grandson. I don't know what to say beyond that other than thank you for how much of your self and your time and treasure you've given to the community here.

r redden r redden Nyla is such a cutie! She looks very much like our rescue, Rufus, looked as a pup when we adopted him at the age of three months from a shelter ten and a half years ago. He continues to be a wonderful companion and vital member of our family, I'm sure she will be for you, too.

I hope you'll post pictures as she grows. :)
