- thank you!

I was born about 100yds form the Indian Ocean in Mombasa.........the sound of the sea does wonders to me....to most of us I think, yes.

Twenty two years later I went to live and work 1000miles due east of Mombasa, right here, right on the beach...

A beautiful part of the world Paul. I bought my place on Sanibel Island on the gulf coast of Florida almost three years ago. We went on vacation and pretty much never left. We too are only a couple of hundred yards from the beach. Our little piece of paradise.

......simply stunning  - wow joeradza joeradza

I love the grass between my toes - but sand between your toes, sound o' surf in your ear..........sublime

Beautiful photos guys. No matter your addiction, whether beach or mountains or woods or fields, I think getting into nature and away from concrete is good for everyone. I feel sorry for those that think all of life revolves around a city block. The owner of the company I work for has lived his entire life in Manhattan, and absolutely refuses to even walk across any grass/dirt for fear of messing up his shoes. o_O

This photo is from one of our favorite spots on the planet, Waikoloa Beach on the Big Island of Hawaii.

And this is the state fish of Hawaii, the Humuhumunukunukuapua'a. Photo taken snorkeling.

We lived in Hawaii for 6 years. Nearing retirement, my wife and I are discussing going back to live out the rest of our days.

What are you going to do with your .22s Bill? From what I understand, it's not that easy finding good places to shoot there.

Hawaii? Schofield Rod and Gun Club uses ranges on Schofield Barracks. I'm one of the few with a life membership. I was once president of the club.

I understand the Seychelles are gorgeous.

I agree, there is something about being at the beach.
Here's my beach.. looking across the bay to Silver Strand State Beach on an winter's evening..

Will see if I can hook out some of mine.

- indeed, Frank..........The Seychelles are utterly stunning......picture book.

I was there many years ago, first coup d'état. Lived on their biggest beach, Beau Vallon.

First time, I was there a year. It was a privilege beyond belief, had experiences that will live with me always and forever.

Amazing though, at the end of the first year - was sick of beaches, clear turquoise waters, blue skies and sunshine...........just wanted to go home.

I was home for three days - the place was the same, the weather was the same, the rain was the same - I wanted to go straight back. But I had made a choice. So, we can get used to somewhere so beautiful yet become complacent and contemptuous - and all we really need most the time is to 'touch base' and smell the coffee o_O

Went back again a couple years later, not for so long, and, have taken the missus there couple times. Yip, dream place, for sure.

Got through a couple more piles of leaves before dark last night. Still have a few more to burn and a patch to rake. Unfortunately, more leaves continue to fall from my Oak's incessant shedding. But, it also won't be long until my azalea's bloom!
