"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Well, third time's a charm, I guess. Finally, 7 weeks after our initial scheduled date, our daughter had her eye procedure done today. Everything went smoothly, and she's sleeping off the anesthesia now. The doctor remembered everything that happened last time and did everything he could to make today right for us. The anesthesiologist (who was actually different from the last time) started to tell us that they sent a network-wide policy change making all doctors, nurses, and schedulers aware of time limits needed for illness in relation to anesthesia about a month ago. The surgeon stepped in and told the anesthesiologist that our debacle was actually the reason for that policy change. Hopefully, due to what we had to go through, no other ~2 year old (or their parents) will be subjected to such incompetence in the future.

Glad to hear that everything went well this time, Shawn!:thumbsup:
I hope the recovery/aftermath goes without a hitch for all of you. :)
(Wish I had a relevant Eye-witness or German Eye knife to post here. ;))

Shawn I'm so glad everything went well this time and I have to add your daughter is a beautiful little sleeping princess. I can only imagine the stress you and your wife had to endure.

Very cool! My dad used to take us to Curling matches back in the 1960s. Go USA!

I was watching some you tube knife forging videos this morning and came across this one of our own GW Drew. I have been to his shop it is located in his garage and bought knives from him. He makes awesome knives and is one heck of a nice guy thought you folks might like this video. HERE

Excellent Randy. Thanks! Hope things are on the total mend for you.

So much happens here on the porch. I can't really get caught up. So, I've stopped in to say hello again. I have been working hard on a particular project both online and in person, so have had little time to surf the Porch. But, I miss my friends.
So, in addition, some of you may have noticed, I am raising funds for a new shotgun. I shoot Skeet and Sporting Clays. If you think knives can be expensive, try a sporting shotgun some time:(:(. I'm almost there after selling a watch, a couple of knives of which I had doubles a guitar and an amp which I really did not need anymore, so no great loss there. What keeps coming back to me is, quality stuff always pays off in the end. As an example, I had a Fender Deluxe Reverb 65 Reissue tube amp. I used it quite a bit when I was playing in bar bands, etc.. It was really sweet for blues and outlaw country. I paid dearly for it years ago. But, when it came time to sell recently, got more than I paid for it 20 years ago and sold it quickly. So, I am close to my goal. I'm buying a Caesar Guerini over and under. https://gueriniusa.com/shotguns/magnus-sporting/
It's a beautiful shotgun, and I am sure it will improve my scores;);)

Good to catch up on the porch again. See you all soon.

Yes they are on the mend. I'm very happy now and the members here are a big part of that. It's been a little bit rough the last few months but I now have everything I need and when I get paid Wednesday I won't have a lot of extra but I will be back on my feet and have all I need to live on and that my friend is a blessing.
