Carothers and Guns

About to head out to my aunts place. We got hit with some snow the last couple days and she hasn't seen her horses. Going to go look for them and am bringing this, hopefully don't have to use it on a horse but might get lucky and see a coyote or pig.

Cleaning up my gun room, trying to pick out some Busse's to sell to offset the LC from the preorder. I get side tracked easily 😂 noticed this RMR was dead so obviously gotta drop what I'm doing to change the battery and take a pic 🤪

Some banter about knife fighting the other day reminded me…I haven’t shot pistol in a while! Deer season and all that, but it’s easy to get rusty without some regular range time.

The lighting stinks, but here's a little old and new. The Garand is a CMP Danish lend/lease return that I got back in 2002. I knew I would put new wood on it because of the stories I heard about the condition of the stocks from the Danes. I put a post-it note on my packet that said "hoping for a good shooter, wood condition unimportant".

CMP gave me what I ask for. A re arsenaled Garand with a brand new unfired Danish VAR barrel that gauged tighter than NOS USGI barrels. The wood was garbage. I got this hybrid walnut stock fitted to it and the lighting does not do it justice.

AR is an Aero Precision build with Rock River 2 stage match trigger from my service rifle days and a Criterion pencil barrel, maybe a Daniel Defense barrel, I can't remember. Silencerco Omega 36

Pistol is a S&W M&P 2.0 Spec Series metal frame with an Apex duty carry flat trigger.

My newest purchase is my first (and not last) CPK Basic 5 FK

When this FK3 arrive, I immediately knew I had to sell it. It would be such a shame to do the nearly-abusive things I do with larger knives. I concluded yesterday that I could live with the guilt and shame… oh, and there’s a Glock; it makes the FK3 look even nicer.IMG_5710.jpeg

Been playing a bit with the XTEN, ordered a Sigmtech tungsten guide rod for it that uses 1911 recoil springs, 24lb definitely helps with Underwood hard cast recoil, and brass only throws 7ft instead of 15. Have a 22lb and a 26lb to mess with when it warms up

Hovering around 0 degrees with wind chill, couple mag dumps the heat from the silencer was feeling pretty nice

I already don't like my RXM that I have not fired. Ordered online lol. It might be good for people seeking a grip reduced Glock. That "part is missing" feel.

Just got my non mos 43x back from being milled for this EPS optic. Now the factory MOS slide might be irons only. Never was 100% on the fit between Holosun + plate + factory mos.

The EDC is the best...
