I forgot the damn combo to my fort knox pistol box! 😔

Luckily, there nothing in it. I swear I know the combo and it's just not working. My wife thought it was the same combo I did.

Well, here's to a fun weekend of trying out roughly 1000 combos lol
Post a pic. Not familiar with that particular brand/item, but I developed an interest in lockpicking when I was 12-13, and taught myself to pick numerous types of locks, including combo locks.

Used that particular skill to open one of my dad’s briefcases that he’d forgotten the combo to, and had been gathering dust in the attic for years (he didn’t want to toss it, or damage it because it was a gift from his sister).

There wasn’t anything particularly cool (or vitally important) in it 😕. Just 12-13 year old me popping out of the attic, all sweaty and dusty (questionably smart kid, too dumb to bring the briefcase out of the attic to work on it comfortably, so I was up there baking in the summer heat while trying to see if I could figure out how to pick the combo lock 😅), going, “Hey! I found dad’s old briefcase in the attic and got it open!”.

How many digit combo is it? I was so convinced that TSA had accidentally reset my triple digit number lock when they probably opened up my checked in baggage that I had to cut the lock open. Then when the same thing happened on arrival to Mooresville(same sequence opening combo) I blamed TSA again(no one accused me of being a genius) and spent 45 mins trying to open it, before I realized the correct sequence was a transposition of the last 2 digits(i.e. 348 and not 384).

There are 5 buttons, but they're not numbered. You can only press each button once, but you can press more than one button at the same time.

Probably easier to get in with the simple backup key it usually has, using @bluemax_1‘s method?

No access lock or I'd just pick it myself.

If it’s a Simplex lock and you can’t figure out the combo (doesn’t look like Ft Knox has keyed emergency access)

*** unlike dial locks, I haven’t figured out a way to decode combinations on these.

That's exactly what it is. I like picking locks, so if it were something "normal", I'd just get out my lock picks and figure it out. Not in this thing though.
