Carothers and Guns

Hmmmm…..Guess I could throw another few dozen gun combos in. Problem is, I only have one CPK for the common denominator. I hereby do solemnly vow that I will not buy another firearm before I get more CPKs ! For now, this is my favorite combo.

I'm in on this theme!

I prefer iron sights over an optic for a suppressed center fire pistol because the fouling is not so lens friendly. I was making quick hits on a 12" plate at 50 yards with this rig recently. Very shootable and quiet.

Im not big into striker guns with cans, have had mixed reliability but the VP series for me (VP9SK, VP9L (still need to get a VP9 barrel) has been awesome, reliable, and as quiet as my hammer guns. Nice looking setup 👍🏻

Edit to add since I forgot, completely agree on running red dots and silencers. I tried a RMR on a FNX tac before I sold it, couldn’t see anything after 50 rounds. FN 502 with RMR (even running 2 different cans one being a flow thru), 120 rounds before it got fuzzy. Currently have one on a FNX 9 build that hasn’t had too much blowback but haven’t shot it a ton and my curiosity wants to try it on the VP9L even though I probably can predict the results

I too had an RMR on a suppressed FNX-45 some years back. If you are going to shoot with an obstructed window you might as well ditch the dot for irons right?

Here is a Thompson Machine Poseidon 9. As you probably know it is meant to be run with some wire pulling gel or grease inside the baffle stack. The "wipe" on the end makes for a ton of back gas / sludge. At least Glocks are easy to detail strip. This non boosted can makes for more jumpy recoil on the rocking barrel host.

Yes this is a baby chair...

Dang dood! Is that bad mamma jamma fighter a Burt Foster?
It is! Burt made the first custom knife I ever bought, a military field knife in 5160 and butterscotch micarta, back in 2006 when I was 20. I let it go a few years later and always swore I'd own another piece of his work someday. This one may be basic, but it's real fine. Combat #4 in black canvas micarta and his stainless-over-carbon san mai (420 over 80CRV2).
