Carothers and Guns

I used to have an Ithaca 1911 and aside from the “idiot” mark from someone who didn’t know what they were doing, it was in really good shape. I love that old Parkerized finish. Super accurate too. I traded it years ago for an AR when it was looking like it was going to be impossible to obtain one and the prices were skyrocketing.

I don’t regret the trade but I do miss that old pistol. I think I had it dated to ‘46 or somewhere close - I can’t quite recall.

Very cool! I think I dated my shotgun to around ‘53. My dad gave my brother his old Deerslayer and I wanted it bad so I always kept my eye out for an older Mod.37 in great shape. It took a while but I got a good deal on an excellent condition gun that’s only separated in serial # from my dads by about 18,000 or so. Both in 16ga as well which is cool.

That is really cool - I love that vintage stuff. A lot of history in some of those pieces. Now you’re making me miss that pistol even more.

I scooped it and an old Winchester 55 for $500 at the time. Still have the Winchester.

Tested some projects today. Took over a year but finally tracked down a USP 40 tactical barrel and ordered a RCM #17 locking piece to run the C308 suppressed. Still launches brass 15 yards but recoil is much more tame

That's a whole lotta 'reach out and touch someone'. I wonder if they have a spiky end cap available, 'cuz that looks about right for bayonet length 😅

I remember some guys had a brass catching attachment for their AR10s.

G3/91s launch the hell out of brass. Not sure if there’s a catcher for them or not. Plus the fluted chamber in them can make reloading it impossible since it bulges and gets stuck in the resizing die.

Yeah, these guys were collecting brass for reloading .260 Rem (not keeping a crime scene clean).
