We got out for a little night trail building session.
Before I get to handling the newest iteration of the Light Chopper, I wanted to refamiliarize myself with the old one since she's been at Nathan's for the past while.
Sorry about the grainy footage, I didn't realize that filter was engaged. The sound tells you most of what you need to know, anyway.

Nathan ground a version of the Light Chopper that has an extremely fine 'competition edge'. I'll be testing this knife over the next two days, and it will then make its way to Dan for further testing.

The standard version of the Light Chopper will get run through its paces over the next few weeks, and I'll do doing some head to head comparisons with the HD Chopper when it shows up.
 
Wow that thing has a real nice little ring to it when you're choppin' that log. Ping ping ping! I love satisfying sound like that when choppin'.

I half expected you to chop the rock in half. :D
 
The technique of grabbing a branch or branches with some tension works well with smaller branches so that the energy of the swing isn't absorbed by the branch moving ! A real necessity when cutting things like Forsythia [been there done that ! ]

Already began putting the "Fatty" through the gauntlet. I need to get as skilled as Lorien as far as videoing as I chop, so in the meantime there's only stills.
 
well, that was a tiring weekend.
