Case Barlow is back

I picked mine up with the intention of replacing the covers, and performing a secondary blade delete, so the cover material wasn’t nearly as important to me as getting something in carbon steel. :)

What are you going to use if you don't mind me asking? I think a vintage micarta would look awesome.

I just noticed a couple new ones pop up at that place in the mountains. They say out of stock, but I signed up for alerts. One is "Smoky Valley Sunset" in carbon steel. I have a swell-center jack and a large stockman in those covers and they're both lookers. I can't wait to see how the barlow turns out.

(For anyone interested in the other new cover, it has "Peanut Butter & Jelly" jigged bone. Looks nice!)

I just noticed this new offering from Case, SS Brown Bone.

It is back in stock and on the way to my mailbox. I've been waiting for an option with no shield and in carbon steel. I'm pretty excited about this one.

I know.................. It's like painting Camero in giant block letters on the side of a super sport. Why?!?!?

It actually fades in with a little pocket time and isn't so bold.
The bone is awesome though!!!
That bolster???

While I think some examples of this grey bone can look good in the right lighting like yours does, I don't like the material either and also bought mine to modify.

I am very happy with how my modified and dyed grey bone barlow came out ( no pictures of it will upload for some reason)
But I just got an email for this awesome exclusive that I couldn't order fast enough and it's making me wish I had held off on that grey bone.

When I ordered that grey bone it was the only carbon steel option so I settled and bought it, but the covers on this are exactly what I wanted to shoot for if I had been able to bleach all the existing dye out.
It was a lot of headache and effort to come back from what I thought might be a ruined knife, I'm glad I didn't give up but bummed that I could have just waited 6 months and bought exactly what I wanted.

It's a mouthful, but I think these " SMOKEY VALLEY SUNSET AUTUM BONE " covers look great.

I'm really really optimistic about the sunset bone on the Barlow I just ordered, but man these covers are perfect.
These covers have exactly the kind of old world feel I hoped Case would offer on their Barlow.
This knife with CS blades and no shield ( love the shield, case needs to offer it on other knives) would be the perfect Case Barlow.

Boy they're really stepping up their game, they're still not pairing their tip top cover options with CS blades or using either on a couple patterns I really wish they would, but man the pieces are all there.

I couldn't agree more! I love these covers and call me crazy, but I kind of like the bolster stamp too. 🫣

I don't think these will last long so if anyone is on the fence, don't wait too long to decide!
I can't really tell if it's an actual stamping or just an etch ( does anybody have one in hand ? ), but I quite like it as well.

Thinking logically with the traditional knife knowledge I have, I should not like it .
You'd probably never find anything like this historically, and I think the concept of celebrating the knives blade steel on the bolster is stupid.
logically it's wrong and I shouldn't like it, but the arched font is attractive and it looks really good despite what it says.

I grabbed the "SVSAB" (yeah, I'll just go with the abbreviation lol) only because it's in carbon steel. What I'm really hoping they release is their smooth natural bone in CS with no shield.

Personally I don't really like the white smooth bone because it's too plain and boring, but it does have lots of dye job potential.

I'd definitely go for one if offered.

Agreed. I've been on the fence with this brown bone barlow for a while. I held off because I was hopeful that we'd see something in CS without a shield. I already have a couple of the SVSAB (yes! S Stockaholic ) covers, so I knew I'd be happy with the color variation on these. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
