Case Barlow is back

Those mods look fantastic!
Thank you.
when my latest Barlow arrives I'll probably copy this sheeps foot or think on doing a coping profile, I remember contemplating a coping profile last time but with this mod I'm limited the space between the end of the nick and where the belly starts so I may not be able to.

When new it's plain and boring yes, but I love the way it ages.
one of my 6208's has what a few members have dubbed " accidental appaloosa bone ", a white smooth bone that was transformed via some leather dye on my hands that leached off onto the knife.
I don't think I could replicate this if I wanted to, but I may eventually buy another smooth bone Case and see what can be done if I can remember exactly which leather dye I had been using at the time.

Yes I'm familiar with your appaloosa whittler. I smile every time you post it.

I love everything about it! I don’t think the bolsters are stamped, it looks like a deep etch. The jigging and color of the bone is just fantastic.

That looks great.
Mine is waiting for me at the post office to be picked up on my way home from work this afternoon.
It's a very rainy overcast day here which tends to be good for pictures if it's not too dark, so I should be able to get a good representation of how the bone on mine looks.

Jigging is one thing Case pretty much always gets right.
They aren't too great with certain colors, or with perfect edges ( they're doing well with the Barlow though) , and don't use CS enough, but their jigging is great.

I like the color I got, it reminds me of a spalted pumpkin though the orange tone is more vibrant in person.

The bscksprings are 99.9% flush both opened and closed with no gaps, and the blades open with no cant.

The centering is great if that matters to you, and pulls are pretty good, smooth opening with no play.
I don't know how the 1-10 scale usually goes, but they're easy to open with good snap while closing could stand to be a tad snappier.

For the pen blade reprofile I decided to go with a coping blade just to make it a bit different than my other one.20241223_155653.jpg

Nice job on the coping blade mod. You got yourself one good looking knife!

That’s some nice looking color! Nice work on the pen blade, that coping profile would be very practical.

I was hoping for more orange but I have come to love mine. The color seems to look different indoors and out, sunlight and shade.. etc. It looks different every time I look at it, and I love it.

Yes, mine is more orange in person and different lighting.

I just wish- even if it’s a tad more expensive- that they would go back to stamping their blades. The laser logo just makes it look like an afterthought, which wouldn’t bother me so much if the Case stamps and date system werent such an iconic part of the brand. It’s like buying a car and finding out they stencil painted the logo on at the dealership.

Otherwise these look great, the jigging is much more aggressive than it looked online and the colors, though varied, look like pretty nice options all around!

I like the true tang stamps better as well, but am at least glad that they're deep enough to be permanent.
If it was just a surface deep thing I'd definitely be unhappy about it.
